If this is still 'current truth' then a JW is not allowed to use live bait when fishing. Or bait that hasn't been properly drained of blood.
You wouldn't feed a live mouse to a cat but the cat can catch the mouse and eat it?
Am I going mad?
how irrational the society could be was experienced by the sister-in-law of ex-bethelite william (bill) cetnar when .... at the suggestion of her veterinarian, she had a blood transfusion given to her poodle to prolong its life.
she couldn't believe bill [cetnar]when he told her that the society would say she had violated god's law.
at his urging she wrote the society on the matter and the response she received informed her that she had done wrong.

Thank you Bangalore for finding that 'Questions from Readers'.
To paraphrase Chevy Chase/Clark Griswold ''They're all f..ked in the head''.
i've heard the statement from bible apologists so many times that the global flood story of genesis was not a global flood but was probably a local flood.
this seems problematic.. this directly disagrees with the bible.
everywhere the bible internally references a global flood of worldwide scale (i'll throw in matthew 24:39 as a nt example and genesis 6:17 as a ot example.

''The case about a global flood is this:
Jesus believed in it and spoke of it. If I reject the flood, then I reject Jesus. That is why I take an all or nothing approach to the Bible. When you begin to throw out 1 part, you end up having to throw out the whole thing.'' (my bold)
How about this.
Imagine in 2000 years time someone reading a speech of Barak Obama's where he allegedly said
''Just as in the days of Huckleberry Finn people can be racist.''
Or,
''Just as in the days of Oliver Twist some children end up as pickpockets.''
That would not be proof enough for me that Huckleberry Finn or Oliver Twist actually existed as real people. It wouldn't be proof enough for me that Barak Obama believed that they were real people.
I actually used to think very similar to you. I wrote off to the Society asking about the book of Genesis. I wrote that if God had simply left it at Gen 1:1 I would have been happy. He created everything, end of. But no, we have all the nonsense of the first 12 chapters of Genesis to contend with.
I then followed up with your system of thinking. One out, all out.
I'm much happier now not having to try and perform mental contortions to try and get things to fit, eg ice cores, tree rings, glaciers, mountains, ancient human artifacts, totally waterproof pyramids etc.
what im about to post is the exact words from the co during the last talk of the most recent special assembly day.
even though im out i still try to keep up with what is being said just cause i find it interesting, and alot of stuff i find funny, but this stuff is starting to get scary, and i fear for my friends who are still in.
here are the exact words:.

''Another book (now expunged from the CD) "Life Everlasting in the Freedom of the Sons of God" states that Christs Millennial reign will end in 2975. (in a chronological chart)''
I've never heard of that one before. Sounds good
for a long while i have been coming to this site on a daily basis and i think it is time to introduce myself.
here we go: my parents learned the truth when i was 4 and i don't have childhood memories of how life was before they converted.
i was a model jw child, although quite mischievous at school.
Thanks for posting and wish you well.
today is kim clijsters' birthday and a month ago she announced her retirement from tennis.
i remember the week she was born very well.
i have watched tennis since the late '70s, and i remember when billie jean king was a star, when jimmy connors was a hot new thing, and when "virginia slims" matches were shown on wtbs.
is there any religions out there that actually think that any religion is good as long as you worship?.
or do they all think the other religions are under the control of satan/the devil.. funny, i knew that the jw's felt that way but never really thought about the other religions.. is there any humble enough to admit they don't have all the truth and aren't any better than any other religion?.
that's the one i want to join... snoozy.
If there is a god or gods, surely it is the height of arrogance for any human being to claim that they 'know' how it wants to be worshipped or followed.
To my simple way of thinking, religious people, that is all religious people of all creeds and denominations are by default the most arrogant people on earth.
Many of them are very humble and kind wonderful people, but still, in my opinion, extremely arrogant.
confidential message to irish clergy could feed lawsuits around worldlast updated: tuesday, january 18, 2011 | 6:34 pm et comments264recommend159the associated pressthe vatican intervened in a 1997 letter, obtained by the associated press this week, to advise the irish church against reporting all allegations of sexual abuse by clergy to the police.
(associated press)a newly revealed 1997 letter from the vatican warned ireland's catholic bishops not to report all suspected child-abuse cases to police a disclosure with the potential to fuel more lawsuits worldwide against the vatican, which has long denied any involvement in coverups.. the letter, obtained by irish broadcasters rte and provided to the associated press, documents the vatican's rejection of an irish church initiative to begin helping police identify pedophile priests.. the letter's message undermines persistent vatican claims that the church never instructed bishops to withhold evidence or suspicion of crimes from police.
instead, the letter emphasizes the church's right to handle all child-abuse allegations and determine punishments in house rather than hand that power to civil authorities.. catholic officials in ireland declined requests for comment on the letter, which rte said it received from an irish bishop.. child-abuse activists in ireland said the 1997 letter should demonstrate, once and for all, that the protection of pedophile priests from criminal investigation was not only sanctioned by vatican leaders but ordered by them.
Makes you proud to be a Catholic doesn't it.
My opinion of ALL Catholics even those dear little old ladies that help out with charities is rather low shall we say.
Why don't decent people, who happen to be Catholic, tell it like it is.
Why don't ordinary decent Catholics say, ''Yes my religion stinks and I am ashamed to have any part of it''?
this question was posed to me by a poster named ice cream.
i don't know my answer yet.
it's one of those, "if you could have just one wish.." kind of questions.
As many Witnesses are born into it , ''If you had been born into a Hindu family do you think you would have stayed a Hindu, or joined the Witnesses?''

So what was that question again ElPiro? I think I missed it.
