Watchtower says Hemoglobin Constitutes 33% of A Red Blood Cell. AJWRB says its 97%. Which is Correct?

i'm confused at the huge variance in these percentages - where can i find exactly what % of a red blood cell is made up of hemoglobin?.

km 11/06 says its 33%.

Think of grapes and raisins.

Grapes are 'out'.

Raisins are 'in'.

Eating grapes unrepentedly will result in disfellowshipping.

Eating raisins will result in nothing.

Hi, Newbie Here

well i have been lurking for the past couple of weeks and have finally decided to create an account.

just wanted to introduce myself and relate my life story in the borg, specifically from the past few weeks- which i think has been a lot easier than many on the board.

anyway, my mum began to study when i was 10 (2005) and since then has been babtized; she strongly believes it is the truth.

Thanks for joining and posting. My advice, for what it is worth, is please don't do what I did. Don't just drift along putting your doubts to the back of your mind. One day they will come back with a pent up vengeance.

I, too, had many questions when I was your age which I was given non satisfactory answers to, by the elders. I just thought to myself, ''Ah well, my family and friends are all Witnesses, I'll just carry on''. I wanted to eventually get married and so had to go through the baptism.

Get baptized, get married, have kids. All the time still attending meetings. But deep down not believing a single solitary word of it.

Eventually I cracked and left.

Luckily for me, my wife and children have left too. Imagine the heartache, though, of those whose partners and children do not leave.

You can still ask questions now, of course, because you're not baptized. If you do get baptized you cannot question anything. Or at least you cannot question the answers you are given.

sorry if this isn't the right place to post this - brand new member here.. i recently caught up with an old friend who is a jw.

she's been witnessing to me, and i've accepted all her handouts because i don't want to hurt her feelings.

but now she's asking me for my "thoughts" about what i've read so far.

Hemoglobin and red blood cells

in a debate i'm having in a forum, i am discussing the subject of fractions of blood and the watchtower's position with respect to acceptance of some fractions while refusing others.. .

in that debate i mentioned that hemoglobin accepted by the watchtower as a matter of conscience is in fact most of the red blood cell (think about 97%) and the other 3% is the membrane lining the red cell.. .

am i correct in this view?

and around 35% of the total content (including water).

wow, havent been around here in a while and it's nice to see some familiar names as well as new ones.. .

well, its that time of year again when some members of my family decide that they need to go preach where the need is great.

It isn't serving where the need is great.

It is serving where their (own) need is great.

It makes them feel better .

It has nothing to do with reaching new people for other peoples sake.

There are several younger ones from around here that have gone to serve in the Caribbean tropical paradise holiday island of Dominican Republic.

Not many go to either Inner or Outer Mongolia. Funny that.

from the kingdom ministry's, generally july/august issues, i got the following figures for the number of memorial partakers in the usa.

it is usually in the service report but a few were in the branch letter.

note the july '78 branch letter gives a figure for ''the incomplete attendance figures for the continental united states indicate that 1,258,837 were assembled, with 4,293 partaking''.. .

Approx 1,180,000 out of approx 7,500,000 is between 1 in 6, to 1 in 7.

About 15% of Witnesses are American

but about 40% of the remnant are American.

As you can see I couldn't find anything for 71, 89, 90 or 91.

The percentage of American anointed is around 44%, dwindling to about 41% as we get further down. I assume it is an even smaller percentage of the latest 11,202 partakers.

Nevertheless, Jehovah does seem a little partial towards those dwelling in the USA. You truly are blessed.
