To clarify: there is plenty of room to eat together in the hall itself. But 'brothers' are deciding more and more to go and sit alone in their cars outside.
Thanks

Hi
It has been our local circuit's two day assembly this weekend.
It takes place at Bristol Assembly Hall. From what I recall seating capacity is about 1200.
Attendance about 3-4 years ago was between 900-1000.
Attendance this Saturday was just under 700 and on Sunday it was just above 700. That is a very big drop. In fact the side seating columns were red taped off.
There were 5 baptized (2m +3f )
The 'brothers' were reminded at each of the three song breaks not to forget that they can now give donations by credit card. 3 times in one day!
District Overseer was stressing that we mustn't get down thinking all the increase (what increase?) was only coming from the foreign language work. There is also increase in the English speaking field.
District Overseer also stressed that we need to follow. We are followers. He didn't say who the leader was though.
District Overseer also said that there is no heirarchy in London Bethel. If anything it's a lowerarchy.
More 'brothers' are deciding to eat lunch in their cars in the car park and not enjoying fellowship in the specially assigned eating area, which you can imagine was about half empty.
Thanks

hi everyone,.
a letter has been prepared by anonymous brothers to be sent to bodies of elders around the world.. of course this is a massive undertaking and we are asking for assistance from active and inactive ones around the world who share the sentiments of the letters contents.. your participation in this action indicates your sincere desire to see change within the organization that has become authoritarian in recent years.. we ask that the letter be addressed to "the body of elders" in each respective congregation.. please do not add any further information or commentary.. we are also relying on non-english speaking brothers to translate and distribute this letter.. it will not matter if more than one letter is received by each congregation.
.
Hi
Did I miss something?
Still being relatively new here I have to admit being a little taken aback by the responses of some here to this poster Wingman. Am I ignorant of something that others such as IP_SEC know. Who is 'wingnut' or was that a derogatory term?
Thanks

please excuse my simple mindedness but could someone explain in simple laymans terms how light from the big bang is visible to us.
someone asked me this the other day and i couldn't answer.. if light from an explosion billions of years ago has travelled at the speed of light from point a then what i can't get my head around is how come it never shot past us so to speak before we were even here at point b. .
i've tried to imagine an explosion shooting off in all directions.
Hi
Please excuse my simple mindedness but could someone explain in simple laymans terms how light from the big bang is visible to us. Someone asked me this the other day and I couldn't answer.

I've tried to imagine an explosion shooting off in all directions. Billions of years later life develops on a point B (Earth) that is one of the billions of bits flying out in all directions. If someone on point B turns around and looks back at the centre of the explosion why wouldn't he see nothing?
I hope I've explained this enough for someone to get my drift.
Thanks

can anyone please help me with these very important references, please?.
with the case of the sextuplets in canada and the case of the woman in ireland being given blood and their descriptions of the transfusions as 'violations' and 'rape' could someone give me references from watchtower publications where the watchtower advises this description and approach to refusing blood transfusion?.
this is really important, i can promise you and i do not have references or publications available to me except for the most recent.. thanks again!.

I think that is a consolation of sorts to those who suffer the ultimate sacrifice in JW land. However I think they are mistaken if they think they will get any more respect from their fellow 'brothers' and 'sisters'.
About 2-3 years ago in this locale a young mother died during childbirth with loss of blood a contributory factor shall we say. This mother had been brought up in the 'truth' but left it as an older teenager and eventually married a 'worldly person' , ie one of the 99.9% of non JW's. Her mother and older brother were and are still in.
From what I can gather she died refusing blood. Even though she was no longer a witness. Did she still think as many seem to 'yes it's the truth, I'm just not good enough. I can't let down my family. I'll refuse blood'? I don't know.
What I do know is that very few local witnesses attended the funeral (not held at the KH) and next to none attended the wake which was held in a local working mens club as per the wishes of the husband. She had stopped attending meetings a couple of years before and I suppose was deemed as 'not of our sort'. Even though she had possibly given the utmost sacrifice. It didn't count.
What the mother must have been thinking and probably still feels today realizing that her daughter had died very possibly because of no blood transfusion and the fact that there was very little if any support from the local congregation baffles me. When I think about it I try not to get too upset for her and angry at the flippant way lives are dealt with.
Thanks

How many times has 'Bones' McCoy given his injection to pacify an out of control member of Star Trek. Is that rape?
