...the Crazy Frog, eh? THAT's what an apostate looks like (according to JWs), and 10 x as irritating!

That's what I meant... it was directed at you Kwin, not Katie! I thought you had actually taken Katie's post seriously, hence the request for an ironic reading...apologies!

Irony, anyone?

Has anyone requested their Publisher Records or any other 'records'?
by tabbycat in...and if so, what happened?
i am now living quite far away from my old hall, and no-on here knows i used to be a jw.
i don't know who the secretary would be in my old hall, as it's been a long time.

Oh yeah. I forgot I could lie now! Sometimes the obvious solutions totally elude me. It that habit of trying to 'preach' convoluted (read: nonsensical) biblical theories...what a tangled web we weave!

That's a great idea. However, I strongly suspect the gossip machine would go into overdrive if I requested anything (esp. under the guise of 'reactivating'). Someone 'sympathetic' soul would undoubtedly phone my mum to let her know how great it was that I was 'coming back'. Grrrr! Confidentiality is another complete JW myth. I knew a real coven of elder's wives that knew everyone's business, and saw fit to interfere at every opportunity...(BLOOD PRESSURE RISING)

Seeker4's 500th Post - My letter to the Elders (2nd Posting)
by Seeker4 inhere's the letter i wrote to the body of elders i served with for decades, when they invited me to a judicial committee meeting two months ago.
i have not heard a word from them since i wrote this.
i posted this monday night (may 30, 2005) to celebrate my 500th post, but it ended up in the "heated debates" section, when i intended it to go in this area.

Seeker, thanks for your letter. It's easy to feel absolutely powerless in the face of such a ridiculously flawed bureaucracy. My guess would be that they would be very reticent indeed about any possibility of a public shaming! Ironically, one of the many reasons I left was because of the very issues I now find myself faced with - i.e. the conundrum of D/A'ing.

remember those stories about demonic possession?
by LuckyNun inand how people would swear that things moved by themselves and hovered around?
well, i wish my stuff was possessed so it would move itself to my new apartment for me.
it's 116 degrees here.

KatieK, your partner sounds LOVELY! The film filtering is such a little thing, but it is so considerate. Despite the Blair Witch film incident, I still a complete pussy (cat) about 'scary films'. I have to be feeling that it will be cathartic to watch the film (and I'm rarely feeling that brave). I'm actually quite ashamed that these irrational fears are still quite strong at times, and come back now and then with a vengence. What a horrible way to scare kids into 'behaving'...I remember my mum and I 'purging' particular items in the house and having real a phobia about demons - urgh. My dad (who was a rabid atheist) thought we were complete mentalists. I suppose he was right...

Assemblies are really mostly about speed dating for singles and hooking up with old friends if you're hitched. Do they still have those weird brown food tokens? Every time I smell bacon sandwiches it reminds me of district assemblies...I used to like watching the section where the deaf brothers and sisters sat and trying to see how the sign language matched with the speaker. You could do some serious 'interpretation' or translation if you were of that mind-set!

Spook, yes, Dogville was great. Sometimes I like a big, mind-numbing blickbuster, and I thought it might be a bit overly theatrical and mannered (I'm not so sure about Lars von Trier), but it was really good, and great to see Lauren Bacall too...

If you're vegetarian...look away..
by MidwichCuckoo in.
what's the strangest or most exotic food you've ever 'experienced'?.
for me, i suppose, it was badly cooked (i cooked it myself, say no more) crocodile....i'd like to try swan, and if i can find a loophole in the law, i will.
