think about this for a moment.. jws believe that their relentless work now will be rewarded with paradise later.. however, in an effort to get into paradise, many jws do nothing but work, and serve god.
i know my mother does.. so i wonder, what does she think she's going to do in paradise?
what is there that she likes, that will occupy her eternally??.
One of my 'guilty pleasures' when I was a JW was the hilarity of a 'householder' reponding to the 'Would you like to live forever in paradise on earth' question with a firm "Oh, no, I can't think of anything worse.' You can't really argue with that, can you? There's no proverbial 'carrot' to get 'em hooked!
PS. Now I'm not a JW my guilty pleasures are much more exciting. I can watch 15 cert movies for a start!

Thanks all. I'll think about all this. I am concerned that it would be seen as an 'informal' disassociation, and I am still agonising over it all, and what/how would be the best way to go about everything. My only concern JW-wise is my JW mother and sister, and trying to cause as little hurt or disruption as poss to them...

just come back from the first day of the gillingham, kent, uk convention.
it was the first convention there, because i think they wanted to take the pressure off the twickenham rugby stadium... my cong was assigned to twickenham stadium, not to gillingham, but i "volonteered" was volonteered by our po (the same one who's on a rampage to appoint me as a "mini"... .
i didn't do much today, was assigned to car park duty, then went to sit down for the 1st and 2nd talks... took some notes, then decided to walk around to look for "poztates"... i didn't find any... (we should have a way of noticing each other), i didn't write my name or cong on my badge, so i thought that might be a little sign which might go un-noticed by the r&f, but i didn't attract any attention apart from a couple sisters who looked at me and called me "brother blank"... .
So, you didn't think of streaking across the field then?
many of the people on this site say that they are apostates.
but that is not the way i feel about myself.. i am not angry with the "witnesses" or the organisation, i don't feel that i wasted my life.
i just think that i was stupid to believe it for 30 years (well sort of believe it, i did have severe doubts on and off).
I absolutely do not. I always hated the term, and refuse to be categorised as such. I do understand how some of you have reclaimed the term (which is great) but for me personally it makes me really angry to think of being labelled (i.e dismissed as a 'crazy') as an apostate. I was always scared of 'apostate' protestors when I went to assemblies, because JW's would strike the fear of god into you if you so much as looked at them, or picked up a leaflet.
