  I was surprised to read about all of the off-the-wall groups in the US who call themselves Pentecostals. Here in Canada we are as normal as they come. No snake handling, no man-made rules, and the women can even wear make up and pants!

  I understand the prejudice against any kind of faith when you have been burned by an organization that claims to be the only ones who represent God. When you find out that you have been lied to, it is not unusual to look on everyone as con men and liars. But when you find those who genuinely care, who don't pressure you to come to their denomination and when you are ready to start your search for God, they gently lead you to the person of Christ instead of an organization, you have found a true Christian.

  Wow, news travels fast around these parts. I just spoke to the reporter last night, the story is on the internet this morning and already there is a post concerning it. Amazing!

  Doug Beasley asked me what church I went to. I go to a Pentecostal church, but that is not my religion. I am a Christian first off and foremost. No church died for me and no church can save me. Normally I don't even discuss what church I go to because that is not of any importance. A Christian can go to one church or another and not experience disfellowshipping, shunning or fear of being disloyal to God. What a wonderful freedom we have that people in cults do not have.

  Are You in a Position to Help JWs and Ex-JWs???

  how many of us here are in the position to help jws seeking answers to their doubts and questions, as well as ex-jws who may be wondering if they've made the right decision?do you feel you have the resources to answer their questions on jw doctrines?how about providing emotional and/or spiritual help?and if you are in the position to do so, would you?.

  i often wonder just how many people are out there, jws and ex-jws alike, who need someone to talk to about their jw experiences, to ask questions and find assurance.

  how many of them are unaware that there are people available to help them?

  Hi,

  I have had the privilege of leading a support group for former Jehovah's Witnesses since 1988 in the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada area.

  One of the first things in our group that we discuss with new ex-Witnesses is how the Watchtower and all cults place themselves between you and God. This is what makes followers believe that they must be in submission to a particular organization in order to be in right standing with God. Yet, the Biblical model is that the church is to be beside you as a servant. The healthy church model is that the church is there to teach you and encourage you in your faith with God but NEVER, EVER will they place themselves as necessary for salvation or in a position as mediator between you and God.

  Once an ex-Witness can understand this concept they are better able to search for themselves and find a church family that will serve them in their search for God. Without this understanding, many ex-Witnesses replace the Watchtower with another cult group who teaches them that they are the way to God.

  When Jesus said that no man can come to the Father except through him, he excluded all religions as the source of truth for only Jesus is "the way, the truth and the life". The church should be a servant not a mediator.

  Are you blind?

  i am sure that many of us, even when we were in the truth, were uncomfortable with the notion that we had all the answers, but others just could not see the light.. i came across this great persian story today that illustrates the folly of thinking we have the only view of what is true.

  incidentally, for those who have read his works, although it sounds like a deepak chopra story, it isnt.

  it is a story told by an old persian scholar who lived and worked in delhi, india.. ==============================================================================.

  It is interesting to hear when each ex-Witness finally reaches the conclusion that they had been blind. For some their eyes were opened up only after being pushed into a 'spiritual corner' after many years of faithfulness to the Watchtower Organization. Lorri MacGregor's testimony is a good example of someone who was willing to follow the Society even if it meant death by refusing a blood transfusion. Years later a Christian challenged her to prove from the Bible that Jesus was Michael the Archangel. Lorri sincerely believed that the WT had the proof about Michael and when she went for help to the elders, their answer shocked her. What happened next was a journey through the Society's dark side and an amazing transformation for Lorri when she discovered that the real truth was not an organization.   Queenie your word of thanks means so much to me. My wish is that Jan will live on through her testimony and that her exhortation that there are no wasted years will help many to see that what they have been through can now be turned around for good to be used to help others. Bless you!

  i have just posted some of the audio from the 2002 witnesses now for jesus convention at http://www.jwinfoline.com/page/audio_tapes_of_month.htm more to come shortly.. on sunday evening a jehovah's witness still active in the watchtower and said that 55 - 60% of jehovah's witnesses have stopped attending in some kingdom halls.

  has anyone else noticed a significant drop in kingdom hall attendance?

  is there something big going on inside the wt organization that outsiders may not be aware of?.

  He also told me that out of a congregation with 115 publishers only about 45 were showing up. These types of numbers were also reflected in other congregations near them. The elders were explaining the low numbers to be a result of people taking vacations but after 12 weeks of low attendance of their publishers it became apparent that this wasn't a viable explanation.

  I asked our support group this week if they were aware of this being a trend here in Canada as well. One fellow said that he talked with his grandson who is a JW and he said that the Witnesses are dropping out like flies.

  On Sunday evening a Jehovah's Witness still active in the Watchtower and said that 55 - 60% of Jehovah's Witnesses have stopped attending in some kingdom halls. Has anyone else noticed a significant drop in Kingdom Hall attendance? Is there something big going on inside the WT organization that outsiders may not be aware of?

  Also what is up with non-JW's having to pick up their Watchtower subscriptions at the Kingdom Hall? Is the WT pulling in the troups and heading for the hills?
