I've learned that . . .
by Steve Lowry insomeone gave me a little book many years ago that was nothing but one-line sentences, starting with the words, "i've learned that .
" and followed by the age of the author.
some of these little sentences were hilarious such as; " i've learned that if i turn my ice cream cone upside down, i don't have an ice cream cone anymore.

The experience of a Christian elder found in todays WT study
by skin inwhen we studied this para in todays watchtower i found it hard to believe that an elder would think this way, what do you think?
16 yes, no matter what dark valley we may find ourselves in, we do not have to walk through it alone.
our shepherd is with us, helping us in ways that we may.

I don't find it strange at all. It is human nature to try to blame someone/thing for the things that occur in life. I would like to meet that elder as he appears to be a little more "normal".

That Christmas Feeling
by Steve Lowry inwhen i was about eight years old a jw lady knocked on our door and my life changed.
up until that time we were a fairly normal family who celebrated christmas and the like.
funny, but i don't remember being upset about not having christmas anymore at that age.

My parents became JW's when I was around 4/5. I have no memories of childhood holidays. Even so, now as an adult, who has only been celebrating the holidays for around 4 years, I LOVE them. I love creating greating memories with my kids. Christmas is my favorite!!
However, I do know what you are talking about because my husband feels the same way. He would be fine if we continued to not celebrate any holidays.

Simon, I challenge you to watch "Winning Iraq: The untold Story".
by hubert inunfortunately, because you live in the u.k., you may not have access to this.
but, if you do, then i think you and every one here should watch it, also, whether you are for, or against us being in iraq.

The soldiers that FOX news is "interviewing" are no doubt scripted. I guaranty you, they (FOX new et al.) don't want to air the interviews of unscripted soldiers and their thoughts on this war and all the "good" that is coming out of it.
My husband is a very gregarious person and a lot of fun to be around. He has a great sense of humor and my greatest fear is that this war (he is currently serving there) will change his perspective and hence his personality. That will be the greatest tragedy in my opinion.

Before getting married in a JW hall were you if you have had sex?
by technics1200 in.
just want to know if it is normal practice for the elder giving your wedding talk to ask you and your partner if youve had sex, about 1 week before youre due to get married?.
happened to us, and we were f'in shocked!.

Yes we were asked and we said, "No". Believe it or not, we were telling the truth. We did not "indulge" before our wedding night and we are both pretty proud of this fact. Even more proud that we are still together going on 15 years.

Defd,
I am doing well. Thank you. My little munchkin was extremely over tired and was crying inconsoably (sp?). I finally put shoes on and went outside. Thankfully it is a mild night for the northeast and the passing cars lulled him to sleep. The people in the cars must have thought I was nuts being outside walking in front of my house with a baby at this time of night, but hey whatever works.
Miss Peaches,
That is true, when they are your own it is all good.
