  The New "Invite" - How Stupid Can They Be?

  while traveling down thru new england, i happened across one of the new district convention "invites".. how dumb can the watchtower society get?

  for the moment, let's ignore the fact that they expect people to drop everything.

  within a radius of one, two or even three hundred miles and attend an inner city convention over a weekend.

  Evolution and Self-Sacrifice

  does the theory of evolution supply the genetic answer to the self-sacrificing nature of many animal parents as well as that of many men and women in general?

  when a man or woman risks their life to help someone in danger is their response simply a response to the natural processes at work due to evolution's effect on their dna?

  if so, can this self-sacrificing gene be isolated?

  I know Barbara, we use to talk on the phone, when she learned I was writing a history of Pastor Russell and the IBSA. In the countless hours we spent on the phone. She revealed to me that she was going to write a biography of Br. Russell and that it was not going to be "pretty". She claims Russell was a womenizer, and that he mistreated his wife Maria. That he didn't write the Studies in the Scriptures, but that maria Russell did, and so forth. We stopped talking after she realized I was not writing an anti-Russell book, but was interested ONLY in the facts.

  This is fascinating! It is true that you believe Maria Russell wrote the Studies in the Scriptures? If so, could you share some of your thoughts on that?

  the real reason why jehovahs witnesses refuse blood transfusions

  jehovahs witnesses say that their refusal to accept blood transfusions is based on what the bible says about blood.

  they refer to acts 15:20 where it says, "abstain from blood," and reason that transfusing blood is not abstaining from blood.. but what the bible says about blood is not the real reason why they refuse blood transfusions.

  Are you saying that if the Watchtower came out tomorrow with a letter to all the congregations telling them they could now take blood transfusions JWs would turn around and line up for them? Would you when you were a Witness? Interesting.

  i realize that alot of xjw's are hurting financially, especially if they have been fighting the watchtower.

  what they do not grasp is that we can defeat the watchtower if we are united and help each other.

  it is similar to a war.

  The Lawyers from the Watchtower Society HQ convinced my daughter that Arsenic and orange juice would cure her, arranged for her to be taken into hiding and fed her the Arsenic.

  Was the arsenic given to your daughter before or after the Drs. had administered the treatments and blood transfusions they deemed necessary to save her life but which nontheless failed?

  Overheard at the June 4 2006 Watchtower Study

  so, even back when i was a true believer i noticed this... .

  this watchtower study today, i just got back from, was all about how great the elders are.

  what always wigs me out about these things (because they trot this stuff out in a wt study every year or two) is how the elder conducting the study is up there talking about and praising the elders in the third person, saying how great they are, when he is an elder.

  Hi Brant,

  I sympathize with you cause I too have met elders and circuit overseers who were slime. Maybe my experience in the Org. is unusual I don't know, but I have met more elders who were sincere than otherwise. Sure they were misled but for the most part they truly believed that what they did was for the good of the friends. Many worked hard and sacrificed time with their families to visit the sick or research a problem for an upcoming meeting or meet with publishers who were having serious problems.

  There's hypocrites and liars and there's downright slime in the elder bodies but there are also those who love and who really try to be the best elder/brother they can be. Sure they do the Watchtower's bidding but that's because they believe just as many of us truly believed. It does not make sense to think that Ray Franz and Barbara Anderson are the last man and woman in the Org. hierarchy who are honest and sincere.

  There are still many "good" elders in the Org., men who love God and brother, just as there are many "good" brothers and sisters in the congregations. I think it's important to remember that.
