  Universal Health Care, Pluses and Minuses

  it's a little late to be posting something like this, but i hope you can help me a little.

  i would really like to review some of the pluses and minuses of universal type health care.

  What do you think drives "life saving" healthcare development?

  Umm, how about the desire to save lives? At least it does in every other developed nation in the world.

  So, you'll be subsidized doing something that won't pay for your expenses?

  That's a leap. Perhaps he merely meant that people could finally take jobs that were more in line with their passions and desires, healthcare would cease to be the deciding factor in career choice. This might lead to greater innovation and productivity in the American private sector, leading to greater economic development; but maybe that's the idealest in me.

  I saw Office Space.... I've decided not to pay my bills anymore

  My ex sister in law just had her FIFTH baby. That's 5 babies folks! Guess who buys their food? Guess who pays their medical bills? Not her breeding outta control ass.

  Should we allow those kids to starve because their Mom has problems?

  He's taxed everytime he buys a video game. Sales tax here is 9% and it applies to food.

  Sales tax is a municipal and state levied tax, the Federal Government and Pres. Obama have nothing to do with that. Perhaps you should vote for local representation who promise to lower your sales tax? However, you should be prepared for a reduction in the municipal services you enjoy. Such as: the police department, the fire department, road maintenance, public schools, etc.

  Last week I did some handyman work for a lady and her husband from Massachusetts who bought a $50,000 repo home near me in Cape Coral. They had been working two jobs for two years saving up money for a down payment on a home north of Boston and then the light came on- We can use this money and pay cash for a house in Florida and get part-time jobs and forget about this rat race in Taxachusetts! And that is what they did.

  This is the kind of thinking I've adopted in the past 5 years. Instead of buying an expensive new home in the suburbs of my community (like all our friends were doing), my wife and I bought an old fixer upper in the middle of town for half the cost. We invested our money in transforming it into our own private palace. (Not done yet by the way) Now we have a great home 5 minutes from work, the movies, the grocery store, and college for HALF the price of other homes. We put about 2 thousand miles a year on our cars.

  In addidtion we have no credit cards, and no bank accounts. I keep my money in cash next to my guns.

  Like my grandparents before me I intend to die in this house. Someday I will get ahead of the payment curve and pay this place off.

  texas public schools required to teach bible this year.

  the school year is almost here, and if literature of the bible is not already offered in your child's school, it will be this fall.. books are a common sight in classrooms around the nation, but the bible is one book that is not.

  come this fall, a texas law says all public schools must offer information relating to the bible in their curriculum.

  Why is the US so afraid of Social Health Care?

  i just don't get why the us is so afraid of social health care, and is so opposed to the canadian and british models.

  the plain fact is that there are far more americans without access to health care than the combined populations of sweden, norway, denmark and finland.. a measure of the maturity of any society has to be how it sees fit to re-apportion its wealth.. we are quick to criticise african leaders who line their own pockets but leave the masses in poverty but cannot see that blindly following capitalist principles is much the same.

  if we live in a wealthy society then part of that wealth has to be put back into society as a whole.. .

  Did I mention we are sick and tired of paying for deadbeats?

  Why do you assume that everyone who recieves government assistance is a deadbeat? That sounds pretty ignorant to me. The sad fact is that any of us is one accident away from being one of those so called "deadbeats."

  Lose your job, get cancer, have a bad car wreck......then you'll see how easy it is to fall through the cracks and end up needing help. It's so easy to just assume everyone out there who needs help is just a lazy deadbeat. The masters of the right wing greed machine prey upon that very weakness in our culture.

  I say lets bring it all home and focus on our own people for a change. Everybody that isn't here legally, go home. Everybody in the underdeveloped and emerging countries...sorry...we're outta there! The rest of you that have your hand out every year....sorry...suck it up. Yeah, then we can become a better socialist nation and pay bigger taxes so all our people can have all the free programs and free services and higher standard of living whether they work or not...but, hey, we don't want anybody to go hungry or do without so those that don't mind working and giving most of what they earn to the government so others can have just as much as you, get busy! Roll up your sleeves! We have work to do comrades!

  Who says we can't do it all? It might suprise you to learn that the help we extend to other nations is a very small fraction of our GDP. Your hatred and fear are so sad! Wanting to extend healthcare to all Americans is not Socialism, it's Christian!

  I do not own a home...so my property values are not effected.... and the reason I don't own one, is because I have used the money I might have invested in a home to help others. I've never regretted that. I don't need much myself..

  From where I am sitting this is the mentality expressed by so many Americans today - "I've got mine. You get your own somewhere else. And don't do anything that might lower my property values while you're at it."

  I think you've hit the core of the problem. I've got mine and everyone else can get F-ed. Greed is the problem.

  Standard mail takes forever to get to its destination.

  Huh, that's funny. I mail my Jeep payment from Missouri to California every month for 44 cents. It takes 2 days to arrive and has never been lost or late.
