What do women REALLY want?

ok, i've heard it all: sincerity, honesty, security, money, love, romance, flowers, poems, promises, and more.

but, in my arguably limited experience, i've been shot down while doing all of these (at differnt times obviously).

so, what do women really want?

Ok - so I have only skimmed through the seven pages of this post topic. Enough to see that basically I can only tell you what I want - lol.

However, I don't even think it is what just women want, but what all of us - men, women and children - want.

Unconditional love, freedom, adoration, to know thyself, to give expression to one's true self, to explore life uninhibited (ok, that's freedom again), to be special.

But here goes:

I want to be absolutely and utterly - totally - adored and loved so deeply and passionately. I want someone who can open freshly with me in each moment. I want someone who feels like they couldn't live without me - so much do they feel I am the light in their life - and yet has no will to control me or possess me.

I (and this I believe is true of all women) want to be beautiful in the eyes of my lover. Not just beautiful on the inside. Not just beautiful on the outside. BOTH! And beautiful in a sacred, worshipful kind of way - with awe and reverance. WITHOUT taking away anything from the other person. This feminine vessel feels divine and wants to give divine expression. It is so natural for women to be this - and yet judgment blocks both men and women from realising that this is the natural order.

Women are the source of life - creative powers of love's magnitude. And yes, they do want to be ravished by the masculine too. Women want a man so comfortable in his own masculinity that he can flow with the waves and tides of a women's emotions, desire and will. Women really do want men to be able to read their minds. Not necessarily literally - but when two humans are so open, they become so in tune with eachother that they instinctively respond to each other, their energies flowing in and out of each other in harmony.

That's what I want. What do you want?

The love of your life "cheats" on you....could you forgive?

the old age question............ say, your "soul mate" the love of your life, goes on a trip with some friends.........something happens one night...... they have sex with a stranger( or even a friend)............they come home and tell you what they did............they still love you.. what would you do?...............is the marriage over?

I think each situation should be taken on its' individual merits and one shouldn't have a hard line on this until the pain has eased and lots of honest examination has taken place by both parties.

However, I also don't agree that monogamy is natural. To me, saying you should be with only one person (supposedly for the rest of your life) and only love that one person is like saying you can only have one child - that you couldn't possibly love more than one offspring at a time; or that you can only have one 'best' friend - not a few very close friends.

Marriage, or partnership, can be about need or ownership or control (even on very subtle levels).

I don't know, my head and my heart tell me different things on this matter. My head tells me it would get waaaaay too complicated to have an open relationship, my heart (and body) says it shouldn't be restricted.

if my wife is, for example, preparing a meal i might be able to kiss her on the side of the neck while she's peeling the potato's.

i have finally had a little time to pause for some reflection, lately been either sick(flu) or fighting fatigue to get work done while sick with the flu.. one of my favorite pastimes is to tune into jwd and read all your arguements for and against things of the paranormal nature, mysticism, evolution, and things like these.

i do enjoy those that are of a scientific shaped logic and lean more heavily towards some of their well thought out replies, i see them as open minded for the most part, and know i would never be able to research to the degree they do the subject of evolution and patiently try to deal with some rather set in their ways creationist.

they have brought a wealth of information to our board, that no doubt help many rid themsevles of the god(of the bible) delusion, a rather mean and nasty delusion that many jws need to shake to make thier coming out of mind control more complete.. while i have given up on the god delusion pretty completely, i have not become a complete materialist.

Gill - I know what you are saying. I do believe some things need to be experienced and felt. To others, when you explain your experience, it sounds weird, or occultish or delusional. And yet I find that it is my mind that tends to delude, whereas my feelings are more true.

I try and follow my intuition more these days and I listen to my mind, body and emotions in unison. In the past (particularly as a jw) I tended to only listen with my head.

In my experience, nearly everybody has the feeling that something elusive is "calling them home", which is why we all so desperately want to find someone, or some group, to fit with - because we don't like that feeling of not belonging. I still don't know what this dance is between feeling there is something else - beyond us - and the feeling that we need to give the here and now greater meaning.

There is an inner knowing in all of us and I think our lives run more smoothly and are happier when we each listen to our own inner truth and inner knowing - as conflicting or intangible as it sometimes is.

I don't tend to talk about my experiences very much - what I sometimes experience is barely translatable into words. And I see the results of all the different teachers who have tried to explain their experiences, in the belief that it will help others, only to see their words twisted, manipulated, misunderstood, scorned, doubted, abused, limited, exaggerated. And sceptics have their truth too when they see all these occuring.

I have no desire to control or develop 'psychic' abilities - but when they occasionally spontaneously happen I am grateful for the unique experience. Just as I am grateful when I have other unexpected delights - an amazing sunset on a normal visit to the beach with the kids or reading a book in the country and a vibrant blue wren landing next to me, trilling beautifully. Life is a gift and I appreciate each moment, whether I understand it (or think I understand ) or am in complete mystery.

I do believe everything is cyclical - we are born, we grow older, we die. And as such, I believe some essence of me will be born again. I don't really care anymore whether my consciousnes is attached to that essence. To be attached to the idea that I want my consciousness or being to live on would mean that I am still struggling with the pain I experience - wanting - hoping - to never need experience this pain again. I have made my peace with pain and fear - because joy and love are what sustain me.

And then here you are talking about 'another world'.

To me this is a very natural -- almost unavoidable perthaps -- but fatal perversion of mysticism.
And it easily turns "cultish" -- as there seems to be something to "sell" in that other world

Yes, that has concerned me at times. I am going to ponder some more on what you are saying.

Re capitalisation: Are you saying that it is the human tendency to make something more than what it is? That when we are experiencing something, our mind says this is either not enough or too much. I know I often don't just feeling what I am feeling - there is a wanting to weigh it up, of interpreting it from different angles, of trying to see where it fits into the scheme of things, of wondering how others would perceive it (and judge it as right or wrong). Can we just rest in this that is?

Nark: I want your thoughts on this - if you care to take the time Thanks. For me it is about each moment being a balance of the known and the unknown - that continual opening into each new moment. I think fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of humankind and so we continually contract into that which we know. Faith and/or courage to step into the unknown is following that 'knowing' which is beyond immediate cognitive understanding.

seriously - i just love listening to guys conversations!

i am sitting here doing stuff on the computer and every now and then the animated conversation of my husband and his mate (and they're only on their second beer!

) catches my ear.

I am sitting here doing stuff on the computer and every now and then the animated conversation of my husband and his mate (and they're only on their second beer!) catches my ear. This was what I just heard:

Friend: "Did you know he is dating a stripper?"

Hubby: "As you do when you are studying to be a Tibetan Monk".

I don't want to listen to the rest of the conversation - it would ruin the moment for me!!!
