  Family Reunion

  this past weekend, i attended my family's annual reunion (scheduled a week before thanksgiving, and they served turkey...hmmm) and became literally sick because they are all jw and talked of nothing else.

  i finally realized how sad the normal jw's life is.

  they really have nothing else going for them, thats why the thought of leaving is so unbelievable.

  This is really scary, they all say the same things, my mom went through that with me, all jokes aside, this really is like the Borg, I should have kept my mouth shut, and was successful for quite awhile, but eventually my mouth took over when she began getting sarcastic and speaking down to me and some things came out, which I regret having said, only because she is in her mid 60's, divorced, a regular pioneer, what else does she have? Some of my family that is in the know and I decided we would not say anything so as not to affect her, but well, it's done, she knows how we feel, but that we still attend the meetings and has left it alone, thank God.

  Cori, you did well by just smiling and nodding and such, don't open you mouth,unless you are willing to deal with the consequences.

  Do you think that the Watchtower and Awake Mags are Idols?

  i remember thinking that the magazines were "holy".

  i was afraid to throw them away.

  isn't this like idol worship?

  I see what you mean, and I used to feel the same way, had boxes and boxes of the stuff, because I just couldn't bear to throw them away- what if, when persecution comes and they take away all our literature at the hall, I can hide all this literature and share it among the brethren, as a source of spiritual food?WHAT BS!

  Now, however they have served a better purpose, they have been excellent therapy for me - during my journey out of the brainwashing I eventually got to the point where you feel extreme anger at the WTS for all the damage they have caused to so many people, for their arrogance etc. well I felt a great sense of release and pleasure with every WT and Awake Mag I ripped up and dumped out, it was great, really.

  I did something beneficial for myself and cleared the crap from my house all at the same time.

  sam harris' book "the end of faith, (religion, terror, and the future of reason)" is out in paper back.

  it had been on "the new york times bestseller" list for some time, and i just picked up a copy yesterday.

  has anyone else on the jwd read this book?

  a huge question that i have in the back of my mind regarding the wts is where all of the money ends up.

  no one really has a conclusive answer to that.

  i think it would reveal a lot if we were able to find out.. i know there have been various threads in the past where it revealed a clue here and a clue there.

  Atlantis thank you for that link - what the watchtower reps. say is truly amazing crap, I have to type some of it out to share here, so everyone can see the lies and coverup from their own lips, oh, and thanks for your breakdown of what these crooks are raking in, while having the audacity to ask the congregations for money to pay for their employees, the CO's, this stuff should be gathered and forwarded to the IRS, this really pisses me off , the R & F told to keep their life simple, don't be materialistic, don't save for retirement and they are raking in billions AARRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

  I hope they get taxed to the max in the US and every other country.

  Elder's School Notes Part 1: Quit being so materialistic, you slackers!

  ask, and ye shall receive.. i will herewith post my notes from the km06 elders school i recently attended.

  i will post this in 6 parts, to give people a chance to read smaller chunks and comment on them.. a couple of introductory notes: i wrote an awful lot of stuff, and will not post everything.

  for each talk, i will post 3 sections: (1) general synopsis, (2) personal thoughts & observations, (3) particularly egregious quotations.. the primary speakers, who delivered more than 1/2 of the talks, were a circuit overseer and a guest from brooklyn bethel.. to protect anonymity, we will refer to the sadly inane circuit overseer as brother sico.. and the old-timer lifelong brother from bethel, completely out of touch, as brother bethel-coot.. one more introductory comment: it seems the main points the society wanted to send to elders were:.

  Sir82 I SALUTE YOU! I'ts a brave thing you have done SIR! But seriously, wow, this must be really scaring the pants off the WTS, the fact that we have undercover people everywhere, It's kool isn't it?

  I see they are really nervous about the course this religion is taking, everyone is pretty much fed up with all the damn instructions about avoiding Materialism, Education etc, I'ts really a waste of valuable time to even write up these stupid talks, when most of the Elders will leave that school driving their new SUV's and go back to their nice big houses, and sit in front of their flat screens, and block out all the crap they just heard.

  Yeah, sorry to say, it will be the poor and ignorant mostly minority brothers who will heed this garbage.

  Keep up the good work, and may the undercover work continue!
