Did all the JWs clear the floor when an "inapropriate" song come on, like they did here? It was hilarious when the rink was full of almost all JWs and there were only a couple "worldly" people left to skate til the end of the song.

Jehovah's Witness skating parties were da bomb!
by PaNiCAtTaCk inwas this just a local arkansas thing or were jw's everywhere getting jiggy at the skating rink?
we used to have awesome skating parties and witnesses from 150 miles away would come sometimes.
or sometimes we would drive that far to go to one.

Can you celebrate your 100th birthday when you are a JW?
by blondie inas a devout jehovah's witness, mrs. merle is prohibited from celebrating her birthday.
but a week from tomorrow, relatives and friends will flock to the camoset village country living mobile home park in johnstown to attend a super bowl party that just happens to feature ice cream and cake.. "that's why we're calling it a super bowl party," explained her son bob merle, 73, who lives just five trailers down the road.
"we don't celebrate birthdays, but we have to celebrate 100 years," said mrs. mechem, 78.

Apparently, you can't.
My 95-year-old grandmother went south to see her sister when her sister turned 100. She went with my inactive aunt and uncle and my non-JW aunt and uncle. No presents, no speeches, just dinner and time together. My grandmother has pioneered for over 40 years, her health and memory are just starting to deteriorate, and she hadn't seen her sister in a long while.
When she got back, my elder father (her son) made sure to call her and lay her out for going to a birthday party. Had to get her good and upset to teach her a lesson. Ironic that she turned to my inactive aunt and uncle for comfort afterward.

Blood giving =ed LIBERATION
by bem ini had to share a moment from my life that came today!!
it was one of those inspiring things that hits you like a lead balloon, you know the feeling?
like good grief that is awesome, to have something that should be so obvious, but so elusive that you hadn't noticed it till now.. when i was growing up it was mentioned how family members ( not raised a jw) had needed blood and different ones gave blood and felt good about themselves for having made the effort to make the donation.

Donating was my first outright "rebellion" and quite freeing. I plan on giving regularly from now on.

Do active jw's count their time they post here for field service?
by HockeyMullet ini'm just curious.
it looks like there's a couple "unbaptised" individuals here.
i suppose you wouldn't have to detail it in the service reports, although i haven't filled one out for quite a while.

I sure counted the time when I posted to "opposers." I started counting the minute I logged on with the "intention" to find a post to respond to and ended when I logged-off my computer.
One of my more difficult decisions was figuring out whether I could count links I posted to brochures as placements. My elder Dad and I bounced that one around a bit - can't remember what we decided, though.

I used to have a copy of a CD that was making it's way up and down the east coast that sounded really good. Wish I could find it. The congregation got laid-out for spreading it around.

*** w63 11/15 pp. 689-690 Execution of Divine Judgment upon False Religion ***

Necessarily there must be just one true religion, just as there is only one true science. Nineteen centuries ago a learned defender of the true religion warned against the "oppositions of science falsely so called," or, "contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge," because the acceptance of such falsely called science or knowledge caused many believers to turn away from the true faith. (1 Tim. 6:20, AV; RS) The one true religion must be in perfect harmony with science that is proved, not just called so.7
Science or knowledge that is true, because it is proved, reveals the laws of our universe. It brings to our view more and more plainly the wonderful harmony of all the works of creation and all the laws of our physical universe...8
One God alone could be supreme and all-powerful; and one such God could mean only one true religion, namely, the one right worship of this one supreme, almighty God. His religion is one of right belief and is harmonious in all its expressions, just as true physical science is harmonious and not self-contradictory. The true religion of the one God does not disagree with itself, deny itself or get divided with itself. If it had internal disagreement, contradiction and disunity, it could never stand; it could not be simple truth; it would disagree with the scientific laws of the universe; it could not triumph in the long-drawn-out conflict between true religion and false. But true religion must triumph, because truth cannot be destroyed. That is why, despite all the many false religions in the world, the true religion has lived through till this day, although it stands alone. Certainly the one almighty God could not do otherwise than preserve his own religion. -

Had a major illness disappear after leaving WT?
by by grace ini'm looking for people who have had the experience of becoming very sick with chronic pain, an auto-immune disease, or some major health problem (collitus, diabetes, etc.
) while being involved with jehovah's witnesses, who then had a complete reversal after leaving the jehovah's witnesses.. i am planning to write a book about my experience, and i'd like to get an idea of how many people out there have had a similar one.
i was diagnosed with advanced grave's disease (hyperthyroid), which is an auto-immune disease, and it amazingly "went away" shortly after i left the organization.

Yes - chronic pain and exhaustion that would leave me on my back by early afternoon. Totally gone after leaving the Org. Also - my chemical sensitivities/allergies are about half as severe as they were. I'm also on half the antidepressant and antianxiety meds I was on.
