  I get all my favorite website updates via RSS reader - including updates for this one After trying quite a few, I settled on The Old Reader, though I use an app to organize those for me on mobile so I'm not tied to the browser. I also use RSS for important product updates at work - RSS is usually updated sooner than email distribution lists or newsletters.

  a particularly curious quote was:.

  the most mainstream research on this is a 2010 study out of pennsylvania state university, which examined data from 1972 to 2006. the study showed that 20 percent of people who have left religion report being in excellent health, versus 40 percent of people currently part of strict religious groups (such as jehovahs witnesses and latter-day saints) and 25 percent of people who switched from a strict religion to a more lenient religion.

  What an interesting article! The studies and multi-study analyses are a mixed bag, and I can't say I'm thrilled with the way the article ends. (It seems to suggest that comforting beliefs are worth the tangential benefits, while ignoring the real stresses imposed by the dilemmas faced by those who decide to leave/are kicked out.) I'll be sharing this, though, if for no other reason than for the support groups mentioned in the second half.

  (hugs) MissFit!

  I'm sure my folks would say the same thing, if they were talking to me. I've often thought that many parents want their kids to be happy, but they want their kids to be happy *their way*. If they're "doin' it wrong", the kids could stand to be a bit unhappy (for their own good)... or dead (til they're brought back and taught to be happy the right way).

  And, really... if I'm capable of learning to follow Jehovah in Paradise because of the "perfect" conditions there... doesn't that mean the deck is unfairly stacked against *everyone* in this "system of things" and everyone needs a free do-over (with a bonus Procreation Buff) in Paradise???

  I'll stop now.

  Going from feeling unloved and unlovable to thinking for one's self, finding self worth and taking a place in a community and the world is amazingly hard work and impossible for some. Being at peace looks different for everyone - I am really happy for this writer and enjoyed the read!

  Pics of my amateur efforts below. I tried, unsuccessfully, to put symbols of my kid's favorite theme - "peace, love, and music" - on it but... yeah.

  Someone, somewhere suggested it would be neat to present a plain white cake and, when you cut into it - RAINBOWS! I'll definitely use a white cake recipe and more coloring next time I try this.
