If An Organization Really Believed It Had the Truth...
by xjwsrock in....it would not be scared of critics.
actually they would naturally take an offensive stance, wouldn't they?
they would welcome debate... even encourage it.

Trump could be the new 1914
by MrTheocratic inif wwi did not happen in 1914 the jw religion may not have survived.
many back then were already disillusioned with the fact that they were not taking to heaven.
some left.

If WWI did not happen in 1914 the JW religion may not have survived. Many back then were already disillusioned with the fact that they were not taking to heaven. Some left. Then WW1 happened and the JWs started saying "see 1914 had some significance", and the religion hasn't stopped since.
After listening to Donald Trump and his anti radical islam agenda...he could be the very thing that keeps the JW religion alive. All it will take is another attack on the scale of 9/11 and he would have the whole country, both democrats and Republicans behind him to go after islam.
You could hear the Jw's now " THIS IS THE START OF THE GREAT TRIBULATION". Then all those bunker videos we have been seeing from the RC'S will come to life.
So the way I see it Jw leadership is praying that Trump wins in November.

Are the witnesses really False prophets?
by MrTheocratic inwhen you read the following statements from the wt.
organization... do they satisfy you?
or better stated...... should you be satisfied by there answers?.

Sparrowdown........
No I do not. It just amazes me that many Jdubs put complete trust in every word they read from this organization..and then proceed to make life altering decisions based off these "published ideas".
If we are all wrong and this organization was and is God's mouthpiece. ..then God would need to apologize for the lives ruined due to heeding the advice of his organization.

Question (reasoning book-- Have not Jehovah’s Witnesses made errors in their teachings?
Answer------- Jehovah’s Witnesses do not claim to be inspired prophets. They have made mistakes. Like the apostles of Jesus Christ, they have at times had some wrong expectations.—Luke 19:11; Acts 1:6.
It is true that the Witnesses have made mistakes in their understanding of what would occur at the end of certain time periods, but they have not made the mistake of losing faith or ceasing to be watchful as to fulfillment of Jehovah’s purposes. They have continued to keep to the fore in their thinking the counsel given by Jesus: “Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming" Matthew 24:42
The jv book( page 104 )says this about 1975
In the years following 1966, many of Jehovahs Witnesses acted in harmony with the spirit of that counsel. However other statements were published on this subject, And Some Were Likely more definite than advisable. This was acknowledged in the Watchtower 1980 March 15th page 17.

Is shunning unscriptual?
by MrTheocratic ininternational version 1 cor 5:11. but now i am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler.
do not even eat with such people.. if shunning is wrong.
.how does one explain this scripture?.

Thanks guys ......every ones comments have been very informative. I can finally see that the shunning done by the witnesses is wrong and evil.
Thanks again

So let me see if I understand
A person can only be shunned if they are fake Christians. For example ..Bro. Smith is trying to remain in the Congregation but won't give up immorality. He should be shunned according to this scripture.
But once he leaves ....you can resume association with him.
That does not seem right to me.

@freddo
Either way you put it...the person who "claims" to be a brother does not practice christian living...so what should be done with him?
This scripture says shun him.
Am I missing something? (No sarcasm meant)

We can't totally blame the witnesses for there stance. The practice of shunning is found in the Bible.
Robo Bobo
"anyone who claims to be a brother or sister" - this is not talking about someone formerly baptized who decides they want nothing to do with the religion
I don't think that thought is in line with what this Scripture says. It clearly is an admonition to stop mixing in company with anyone who was Formerly a brother but who now chooses to live another life.
