Thanks guys! we just came across this and wanted to see if it was true or not. I'm not nitpicking trying to go against the wts for everything little thing, but to be apart of something my whole entire life and to find out it's all a lie makes me curious as to what is really going on behind closed doors. And I still have many family members apart of the wts and I hate seeing them be lied to too and fooled.

It is truly scary to see how these people become brainwashed! And I was once brainwashed. I have been out 2 years now, so about 3 years ago I remember sitting at the last convention I attended, teary eyed at some video they showed. How sick, how heart breaking. The only reason I have room in my heart to be ok with those who choose Jehovah's Witnesses is because I was once blind. As much as I hope to see anyone and everyone open there eyes I can't judge, and I can't expect them
to see just because I did. Who knows, if my situation hadn't been so effed up, I may have never woken up. What a bittersweet situation I had. So thankful.

Why is this the first time I have come across this? My husband showed me a video about how the jws invest in stock like Cinemax, Disney, companies producing war weapons, alcohol and much much more. What?! If this is true, there are tax records to show for it right? If that's the case it is so black and white. Why can't people see the organization for what it is? Yes I was once brainwashed as well but this would be pretty solid proof. To see the insane amount of money the organization is investing in stocks, yet the end is near and they have no money. I am so sick to my gut right now. Can someone help clear this up. My husband and I are lost.

Hello welcome! I am in Southern California as well! Been out almost 2 years I was born in. I have to say off the top of my head what really pisses me off is "the truth!" Look at my first post and I refer to the jws as the truth. Shows how brainwashed I was, I was born in though so that's all I knew. But we still spend time with some family that are witnesses and they say the truth as if it is the actual truth, it literally makes me squirm in my seat. And it's actually funny because today I was watching a movie and it was a couple that was getting married but already lived together....which is every freaking movie. Which shows how normal it is to live with someone your not married too! But being raised a jw all you know is chaperones and sex after marriage. Not saying it's wrong to choose that, but if you choose otherwise that's ok too! It's just sick. Just shows how close minded you become. With something so normal -

jws deny shunning, yet lie to not look bad

I recently decided to take matters into my own hands with my husbands family who have nothing to do with us. His mom has seen my son twice since he has been born and his dad has never met him. His family will pop in every few months, on top of that like in my last post ask for for money. what really pissed me off is my his family suddenly is best friends with his ex wife who is a jw. Even though his ex wife cheated on my husband with a ministerial servant, had an abortion, and continues to make my husband and I's life a living hell. But because she is a jw, all of a sudden They sit and tell me that SHE wants what's best for my family?! Excuse me. So basically I sent my husbands mother a text telling her I am disappointed you do not try to see our son, although we make it very easy if you wanted too. And I told her I do not appreciate her and her family telling my people my husband and I do not allow any of them to see our son. So on top of everything they are all lying to people. And we obviously know why....because these people are too ashamed and embarrassed to tell people they shun their son and grandson because of religion. Jehovahs people are supposed to be honest though aren't they? That brings me to mentioning shunning, his mother tries to flip things back on my saying, well you were raised a witness, I don't know where shunning came from. Wtf?! Are these people brain washed or just stupid. So in reply I said, well yes I was raised, I specifically remember sitting at an assembly one year, and the title of one talk was, Shun Your Loved Ones that are Disfellowshipped, if your family having nothing to do with mine isn't shunning, then I don't know what shunning is. And of course...no reply. Even on jw.org, they deny shunning! I don't even understand. Someone please explain. Also if any others deal with ex mates you share kids with that are jws. I just can't believe I have my husbands mother telling me his ex wants what's best for my family. You have that nasty woman and shove it. She makes my life a living hell, but suddenly because my family doesn't go to your meetings we are incapable of parenting and my husbands ex knows and wants what's best for us. Screw you people. Ignorant. -

Everyone is shielded from reality, no reading outside of organizations literature or books. I know a lot saw the Scientology documentary I forgot what it's called but recently prophets prey has been playing on showtime about the FLDS. I feel so sick seeing the similarities to the jws. How does no one see! Even the creepy songs sound the same!!!!! I recommend watching it for those who haven't seen it. Feeling so thankful to be awake, sometimes it can be easier to not know ttat, but really I'm so much happier now!!! -

Yes we may end up helping. It's impossible to reason with these people. The fact they think there is nothing wrong with them asking for money is mind boggling. If we do it is a one time deal. But it kills us to even think about doing it. -

Well it finally happened! We have been waiting about a year for this, my dfd husbands family asked us for money. Even though his own father hasn't met our 8 month old son. And most of his brothers and sisters haven't as well. Makes me sick. So you saved no money because the new world is coming? Just rely on your kids to pay your bills each month! Don't get me wrong I would always help my family no matter what! But the nerve they have, with no shame too! Thinking we are in the wrong as always. I'm about to blow my brains out with the drama I get left and right. I can't believe I once thought it was the truth! It tears families apart. Yet they blame us, the ones going through constant heartache for the empty space in our lives. I thought it was getting easier. But it's still hard. If I can save anyone from making the mistake of getting baptized! Please. Don't do it. I'm not one to say all jws are bad. But what the organization turns people into is what makes me sick, so brain washed. So ignorant, so blind. Sorry this is a rant I am just so angry and so sad. I get told from my family my whole life I am a selfish person. Because I wanted to live my life my way? My sister told me she doesn't like the person I have become and we are not close because we have different views and opinions and I'm a selfish person. But I know I'm not....at least I don't think so. I feel psychically ill anytime I try to reason with these people. Family is family. It's that simple. With no religion there would be so many fewer issues! I'm sorry but I hate religion I hate it. I don't know what I believe. Just be a good person, honest respectful nonjudgmental accepting. I'm a good mother, good wife and good friend. I am happier with who I am today then who I was when I was stuck in that god damn cult.
