as i was in the dentists chair this morning, i got the news and my heart just sank. i think of all those poor people and their grieving families, and my heart goes out to them.
well, You Know, i have to say this: ....my money is on you.. i think you nailed it this time...
what is the verse about them "growing faint out of fear"???
all i can say is..stay tuned.....you guys ain't seen nothing yet....
the fun begins when the terrorists are identified and recompense is sought by the United States.. oh, and not to mention the ramifications in the global markets....
yep, like i said folks...."welcome to the GT.....and the finale is the Big A"..
this is a day that will go down in world history.

Goodbye everyone......
by chipster injust a note to all of you...i have been following this board for the past several weeks, and indeed it has been a most interesting experience.. i guess when i first came here, i had hopes that this might be a place for support and that maybe i would find some people that were indeed spiritual and were in fact trying to find a way of establishing a relationship with jehovah apart from being part of an organization( yes, take a look at the url for this site)..but, dissapointingly, what i have found is a lot of bitterness, complainiing, ugly name calling, labeling, and even outright hatred towards individuals and an organization that most were once part of....it seems that many are stuck in a very negative place, caught up in the role of "victim" and they are full of regret for wasting so much of their life 'in the truth'.... i guess the reality hit me the other day with a post that clearly stated that there really is no common denominator here other that this is a bunch of ex-jws...this is not necessarily spiritual fellowship..nor does it pretend to be.... know what guys??
?i wish you all the very best in your individual journey.....but i have come to the realization that this board really offers nothing to me..... i'm leaving today on an 11 day journey into the wilderness to take some time for meditation, introspective thinking...and yes...some journaling...and yes..even some praying..... i don't think i'll be back here.. hasta la vista, baby!

The CO's visit
by OrangeBlossom inthis past week was the visit of our circuit overseer.
i know what you are thinking so before i post some of his comments that i personally found interesting, i only went to keep peace in the family and not give rise to suspicion about my true feelings.
so with that said, here are some things that grabbed my attention.. 1) his talk thursday nite was about being successful and how the world's view of success is far different than the organizations.

i used to love it when the COs extolled the virtues of "FULL-TIME SERVICE"...i used to want to either puke or scream out (or do both) "what the hell are we (the rank and file)....chopped liver???"....
"did we not dedicate ourselves to being Christians "FULL-TIME" when we were baptized????"...sheeeesh.
they sure had the part down well about making you feel like shit for never doing enough....i remember as an elder having 6 nights a week tied up for taking care of some congregational bullshit....and how i would judge the quiet little ex-elder that the friends would still call and go to to bring their problems ....he never wanted or needed the glory of being recognized as an elder, or being in the "full-time service"..
guess the society abandoned the use of the expression when they realized how demeaning, desecrating, and diminishing the expression is....oh, that's right.....the people writing all the stuff are in "full-time service"... -

Disfellowshipping--The Christian View
by comment inexcerpt from the watchtower, october 15, 2006: "disfellowshipping--the christian view".
12. likewise in modern times, the christian congregation is compelled to disfellowship unrepentant wrongdoers.
but what of those who sincerely regret the reproach they have brought upon jehovah's name, organization and people?

comment,
again, i have to applaud you for the excellent job, especially in paragraph 13.....putting the spin on the R&F....instead of saying, "in the past Christians were directed to shun disfellowshipped ones, and having no contact with them....etc etc etc..." i like how you say "some Christians, etc etc etc"..wow....i swear if someone has a direct e-mail address of someone in Writing, this should be forwarded for their consideration...LOL
i wonder if they give writers an indoctrination course on theocratese...that is the language of the Society..LOL
one clown in phoenix actually took the time to put together a theocratic dictionary, talk about an exhaustive piece of work....wow..
anyway, i'm nominating you for the Golden Tower award for excellence in theocratic writing....
i sure would like to comment on par 13 of that issue if i ever decide to return and get reinstated....or at least get reinstated so i can comment on that paragraph..LOLchippy

dear new eyes,
might i suggest that you take some literacy classes, or at least learn how to use spell check before you post? unfortunately, people judge us by our ability to communicate effectively, and articulate our thoughts and ideas. potentially meaningful posts are often quickly dismissed by readers, assuming the writer to be illiterate.
just a thought. please don't take it personally.chip

comment,
that was some outstanding writing on your part! had a buddy in writing, told me that a good days work in his department was writing two paragraphs for the AW magazine. that being the case, you must have close to a week invested in your projected "new light"..LOL
great job!!

Who was the strangest JW you ever met?
by Preston ini knew a presiding overseer in the congregation i attened who was possibly the strangest person i ever met.
he took a rigorous position toward the society's view on everything!!!
he was against many things ....including....science fiction, fantasy, the x-files, disneyland, cartoons and football.

he was a strange one indeed..i think he just needed to get laid, what do you think?

"We do it for the Brothers"
by Duncan ini remembered this just the other day, and thought id make a post of it.. back in 1971, during my first year of pioneering, i was kind of adopted by one of the sisters in the congregation who was keen to get me friendly with her son (a teenage boy just a little younger than myself) with a view to getting him interested in the pioneer service.. kevin spent part of that summer shadowing me everywhere i went, learning to be a pioneer, and many times i was invited to meals at his house.. his family had been in the truth for ever.
his parents, rose and albert, were absolute congregation stalwarts.
i gradually began to get a bit irritated with them, since it was clear after a few weeks of looking after kevin, and accepting some (not all, just the minimum number for politeness sake) of his many invitations to his house.

duncan,
i was reading your post with keen anticipation, especially the part right before the "big secret" was revealed to you....i thought for sure you were going to say that they led you downstairs to some kind of S&M dungeon or something interesting like that...LOL
i did find your description of the couple rather amusing and interesting.. it takes all kind , doesn't it??

there are many Ph.D's in the organization..... P ost H ole
D iggers.LOL
i'm sure that i got my MBA equivalent for doing the congregation accounts for so many years...LOL
actually, i don't know where the quote originated about getting the eqivalent of a college degree by reading the WT and AW mags...but, i do have to say that the public speaking experience, along with the ability that i gained by talking to total strangers, uninvited at their doors, helped me immensely later on in life....
i don't really know if the degrees are worth a damn in thefinal analysis anyway...just a thought.
