by JasonSea ini am new here and i have a special gift for you that i have been developing through heated debated with atheist/agnostics in a number of forums of this nature.

special edit: okay, i'm getting the hang of this very different format than i am used to.

This you know you cannot do for it is a doctrine you atheists believe ON FAITH!
Apparently you didn't read the rest of my post. Clearly you have no interest in an answer, only making the same statement over and over in the hope that eventually you'll make it true. -

Jason - here's your problem: you're asking folks to prove a negative. Anyone can throw out a belief, such as JFK was killed by the mafia, and then say to someone "prove me wrong!" Proving a negative is nearly impossible when it comes to speculation. Religion and belief in god are pure speculation, there is no certain knowledge that can possibly be had.
Using the scientific method allows one to use verifiable evidence which is reproducable to make conclusions about the world around us. As was previously mentioned, scientists who formulated the theory of the big bang said that, "if the big bang ocurred, then background radiation should be visible." Well, guess what, cosmic background radiation, just as was predicited, was later discovered. In science, ideas are posited which are based on observable laws of nature, and then they are tested. The test can either prove the theory right or wrong, but the test can be reproduced and the same result will occur.
The big bang is a theory that is constantly being tested with new discoveries. Evolution is a theory that is constantly being tested with new discoveries. In both instances, the evidence is fitting the theory very nicely. There are tweaks here and there, but the basic ideas aren't changing.
Religion and belief in god cannot be tested, tests cannot be reproduced, no theory can be posited and tested, and no certain knowledge can be had. Religion, by definition, is something that exists soley in one's head.
So yes, you are correct in that belief is involved in science, but it is a certain knowledge that allows said belief. I believe the sun will come up tomorrow. That is a belief I have which is based on observable and testable fact. Belief that there is a god and he cares about me is speculation based on nothing other than further speculation.

...trying to track down the JW core doctrines
by jgnat inthis is what i've concluded.. there are 104 questions the jw baptismal candidate must answer.
by comparison, a baptist dunker asks no more than five.
orthodox christians follow the nicene creed.

You can bet that it was all of those unqualified "certainties" and absolute statements that were made in the past, that got it in trouble, which are the source of present derision and criticism and which are the ones usually cited by opposers as evidence of its own haughtiness.
LOL - reminds me of an old saying - "when in doubt, mumble." I thought the FDS was the inspired mouth of god... apparently god doesn't have very good judgement.

Pint of Lager and a Packet of Crisps Please
by Jordan ineveryone knows you can't enjoy a good pint without a packet of crisps, but that's where the debate lies, what flavour do you choose, sure, ready salted is a good flavour you can't go wrong with, but really your tastebuds require something a little more, well, flavoured.
so what's your favourite crisp flavour?
personally i like tangy cheese dorito's they compliment a pint of fosters so well... .

Forget crisps, I prefer chips, but not british chips, real potato chips... what you call crisps.
Oh, and my favorite (not favourite) flavor is BBQ.

Profits profits profits
by wanderlustguy inin business profit isn't a dollar amount at least not the way most people view it.
profitability is based on percentage of revenue and not how much money is in the bank.
yes, one has a lot to do with another however it is all percentages.. of course i'm talking about oil comanies, because they are being questioned about their profits.

Profit is the fuel of innovation. Without profits, companies wouldn't have anything to invest in R&D, exploration, etc. The more profits, the more innovation. Those profits are eventually spent, which creates jobs. I don't understand the wingnut socialists who hate profits. They don't understand economics 101.
