Looking for input on the "Rapture" doctrine...
by Jamelle insaw a documentary on tv this weekend about it.
have heard about the "left behind" series of books that deal with this belief.. one thing that caught my attention about the belief in the rapture was that it seemed very dark.
it seems to focus more on the scary things that are talked about in revelation than the message of peace and love that i admire in the teachings of christ.. the other thing that bothered me is that it seemed similar to the witnesses in that you have to be "saved" or you are going to die.

Your Advice Needed! What Appears Like My Only Way Out....
by drew sagan inwell gang, let me tell you a little bit about what is going on in my world.
for about the past 2 years i've gone through all the formations and as many of you have known from reading my posts i've pretty much have moved way beyond the watchtower in my mind many months ago.
coming to this board has helped with the process much, as well as getting my hands on alot of good reading material.

I understand that it would send up apostate red flags, but their inability to respond, coupled with their viceral reaction, would allow you wife to see the real face of the organization. I understand that it would start you down a DF path, but that might just be what she needs to see.

Drew: Do you really want to get yourself back to a routine that you really don't want to do? From my own experience, I've signed myself up for things that my heart really wasn't in, and I was miserable until I could extract myself.
Just a thought: she might see what the organization is all about if you ask some simple questions - like how does the GB represent the FDS?

UPDATE: Semi-Back-in-Business
by RichieRich inover the past couple of weeks, i've learned a lot about myself and those around me.
life might suck, but life moves on.. mom's grip is weakening, prob.
because she's getting tired, or because she's beginning to realize how things are.. not everything i have done is admirable, but its done.

The most she could do is stand there are stare at the PO box. The Postal Service is pretty strict with checking IDs to get a PO box or replace a lost key.

JWs Try To Micro-Manage Every Possible Scenario In Life!
by minimus inwhy can't witnesses be like normal people?
because they have to think about every single possibility that might or could occur.
what if someone could be "stumbled" by my course?

It's a sympton of cult mind control. Any controlling organization wants the member to be dependent on the organization. If you train people to be unable to apply principles themselves through critical thinking, they will train themselves to look to someone else to make decisions about their own life. It's dependence.

Judging by the age of the sun, the last days are about 3,000,000,000 years away. I'd say you have nothing to worry about. You're 16. Enjoy your life - don't worry about the rantings of story tellers.
