  so i've changed my avatar - again!

  i don't know what's wrong with me at the moment, i can't seem to settle on one picture for more than a week!

  anyway, the current pic' is one of me when i was 7 or 8.. thing is, it's just a facial crop from the one photo i am perhaps more embarrassed of than any other.

  i just picked up misquoting jesus by bart ehrman and i'm about 2/3 the way through.

  i have to say that i highly recommend this book.

  it's a fascinating review of the development of the scripture and how, over the centuries, the text of the new testament has been corrupted by the copying and re-copying of scribes, particularly in the early centuries of the church.

  I just picked up Misquoting Jesus by Bart Ehrman and I'm about 2/3 the way through. I have to say that I highly recommend this book. It's a fascinating review of the development of the scripture and how, over the centuries, the text of the New Testament has been corrupted by the copying and re-copying of scribes, particularly in the early centuries of the church. The basic conclusion is that there are many significant and insignificant changes to the text and that many times it is impossible to tell what the originial text should have been. One scholar showed that there were 30,000 differences among the many versions of the New Testament available. Very interesting stuff!

  my friend marion has just arrived at my home, and she certainly has had an interesting few days!

  she hasn't been attending meetings lately, and on saturday the po from her hall phoned to ask why.

  actually, he had phoned several times before, and left messages, but she hasn't been replying and, in his own words, he is very concerned as to what, if anything, is wrong.. she remembers the conversation fairly well (pity she couldn't record it), and it went like this:.

  i guess it is best to read my profile, but the upshot of this new found technology is that i am no longer alone in my isolation.

  Hi Paul - I'm gay but not a JW... Although from what I read on here, coming out of the Watchtower is very similar to coming out gay.

  (note: i've been somewhat of a ranting atheist for the last year or two but i've tried to be nice with it!).

  if a human father punishes his disobedient children by killing them he will be locked up if not executed.

  however, most people would concede that such a man must have had severe mental and/or emotional problems to have reached that point.

  nicoloau: I share your sentiment. God demands worship because he created me. Well, isn't that nice? And if I don't worship him, he'll either cut me off or damn me to hell (depending on your biblical interpretation). In addition, I'm gay, so he created me automatically evil. Nice.

  No thanks, I don't believe in such a being.
