You mean it's not 6,000 years old with us at the centre?
Apparently it's now 6900 years old. (6000 +15%)
astronomers crunch numbers, universe gets bigger
columbus , ohio that intergalactic road trip to triangulum is going to take a little longer than you had planned.. an ohio state university astronomer and his colleagues have determined that the triangulum galaxy, otherwise known as m33, is actually about 15 percent farther away from our galaxy than previously measured.. kris stanek.
this finding implies that the hubble constant, a number that astronomers rely on to calculate a host of factors -- including the size and age of the universe -- could be significantly off the mark as well.. that means that the universe could be 15 percent bigger and 15 percent older than any previous calculations suggested.. the astronomers came to this conclusion after they invented a new method for calculating intergalactic distances, one that is more precise and much simpler than standard methods.

i know there are a lot of threads on evolution and creation and i've read a few here and there.
how can complex systems arise of themselves in the face of entropy?
one evolutionist book i read used snowflakes to show this is possible.
The thing that interests me is why we can't create life. ; With all the examples to study, our advanced science, etc. we can't even create a simple single cell organism.
It's just a matter of time. The process of manipulating things one molecule at a time isn't simple.
Check out an article on the Miller-Uray experiment, which did produce the basics of life from an early earth-like atmosphere in the laboratory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller-Urey_experiment

What makes you think that creation wouldn't be the same?
Because there is evidence that Henry Ford existed, as well as the Ford motor company. There is no evidence for creationism or ID, only conjecture and negative arguments from ignorance.
Evolution evidence: DNA, fossils, chemical reactions, common ancestors
ID "evidence": statements such as "gosh, it doesn't seem like x could happen," or "the probably of evolution is too small." No facts, only arguments against, without regard to the facts.
There isn't a shred of evidence in favor of ID.

All evidence points to evolution - there is no evidence in favor of ID - just conjecture. The fact is that the older fossils are, the less complex the organism that appear. The logical progression of simple, one cell organisms to complex organisms is consistent all through the fossil record. This fact alone is strong evidence in favor of evolution.
The more genetics is studied, the more clear it becomes that evolution is a fact - otherwise much of even the human genome has no explanation for its existence.
the boulder co. da has got to be the biggest goof off in north america
He'll still face child porn charges in california - he disappeared several years back before they could prosecute. Where would you rather rot in jail - California or Thailand?
.
i use 'gas' or 'flatulence' or 'bubble', 'toot'.. i just don't like 'fart', especially in public or by children - can we get a new national word for this natural event?
sorry to rant.. jeff
I prefer shart myself.
I'm sure you'll find better friends on the outside - ones that don't require your allegiance to a publishing corporation to be your friend.
had a chance to watch most of swii last night and then jurassic park ii last night afterwards.
y'know, i gotta say, these new star wars aren't all that great.
(ducks for cover) .
I'm a total star wars geek and I was pretty disappointed with I and II. III isn't bad, but there are still some bad parts. I don't know what happened... Lucas lost his touch, that's for sure. I just have no clue why he made the dialogue as stiff as he did.
since we have faded from the hall most everyone avoids us except for a couple of young ones that will stop by for a visit .
last night a young woman in her twenties came over we talked about several things, and she brought up that a while back she had seriously thought of suicide .
i asked if there were reasons as to why ?
Just go slow. Be a listener. She has already said that she recognizes problems, at least locally. The more she talks about it, the more she'll think about it. Let her convince herself! Just be there to listen!
i've wanted to scan this issue as soon as i could get my hands on it, so here it is.
some of the pictures are little screwed up because of the scan resolution, but it's all readable.
hope you enjoy.. .
If there is no evolution, then the logical conclusion is that Noah's ark had room for all 1,200,000 species of invertebrates and all 58,000 species of vertebrates, in addition to all 5 million species of bacteria, 1.5 million species of fungi, and all 287,000 species of plants.
