I would just back off and simply be his friend. If he's willing to still associate with you, it's important to be a good example of what apostates are not.

Tyre shall never be rebuilt. Failed prophecy?
by GBSJG inaccording to ezekiel 26:14 tyre will never be rebuilt after it is destroyed.
the society says that after nebuchadrezzar alexander the great came and finally destroyed tyre.
but in insight on the scriptures they also mention that tyre was rebuilt and later jesus and paul go to tyre.

Have there been any failed prophecies outside of Ezekiel?

If the WTS closed shop, who'd get the money?
by PopeOfEruke ini don't really understand who really are the beneficial owners of the watchtower society and all its assets.. so i pose this question: if the watchtower society closed down tomorrow and all the assets were sold off, who would get the billions of dollars?
the wts shareholders??
or are there jw companies which are "owed" huge amounts by the society, and so all the cash would simply go to these "companies" to pay off the "debt"?.

Basically, US law states that a non-profit corporation must donate its assets to another non-profit corporation if it, in essence, goes out of business.

From an atheist's point of view, I don't understand the desire to let kids "make up their own minds" when it comes to religion. Would we let them make up their own minds about what is right and wrong? How about what color the sun is? Do we let them make up their own minds about what two plus two equals? These are all just statements of fact, not to be "decided" upon.

by JimWood inso i get this phone call from an apostate friend and i am informed that the c.o.

Jim - now you should drag your feet. See if you can reschedule. They want you out as quickly as possible now. Sounds like they panicked over the flyer.

I have been thinking if its a good idea to come out and say god is fake. Is it really my place? I would rather him come to that conclusion on his own.
Unbeliever - why wouldn't you tell him that god is fake? It's no different then telling him that monsters or ghosts are fake. Why let him live in a delusion or not tell him the truth from the beginning? The sky is blue, there are no monsters under the bed, a triangle has three sides, there is no god. All simple statements of fact.

Tophat - I believe that Santa Claus created the whole universe last week. Of course, I have no evidence for this, but just because I'm saying it, I've made a valid argument - so I think it's important that you believe in Santa Claus, or else he's likely to punish you eternally once you die. Santa's Hell consists of building little wooden toys for eternity.

Tophat, you clearly come across as someone who is uninterested in determining the truth. The truth is an objective and observable fact. The books and evidence for evolution are all around you, yet you refuse to look at the facts. All of the available evidence agrees with the theory of evolution - from the fossil record and even more convincingly, the DNA evidence, yet you show no interest in looking into an issue that contradicts the conjecture of creationism.
There is no evidence in favor of creationism, just opinion and misunderstanding. Whenever I read a creationist's argument, it reads very much like JW verbiage - phrases and words such as "it seems" and "it doesn't seem" and "i can't believe" and "there's no way."
Many (if not most) of us on this board were in the state of mind you are in today. We believed the creation argument hook, line, and sinker, either because our parents told us so, or the church told us so, or the society told us so. We believed it because we didn't know any better. My personal experience is that I was afraid to look into arguments which would disprove my belief in creation. But once the evidence and facts are understood, it's very hard to hold on to a belief in creation that has no factual basis or evidence. It's a satisfying intellectual experience that leads to a much better understanding of the world around us. Ours is a world based on rationality, not indeterminate invisible beings.
