I have debated back and forth with myself whether or not to post the following account of an "accused" JW child molester because I did not have access to as much info regarding such at the time as I did to the first two accounts that are posted above. Compounding the problem is my fading recollection.
However, despite my less than desirable recollection of already sketchy info, I have decided to go ahead and relate this account mainly due to those people who are/were associated with the JWs for 40-60 years who state that they never ever even heard of any allegations of child sex abuse among JWs.
Well, for those folks, this is the third scenario that occurred in the very same Circuit as the two accounts related above.
As with the first two accounts, I hope the reader will learn something about the culture of the "Watchower pedophile paradise" from the reaction of the JW congregation(s) and Circuit to the allegations of child molestation in this instance.
While it is likely that some of the related details are not entirely accurate, as with the two accounts posted above, there are many JWs who could relate a more detailed and more accurate account. Until one of those JWs comes forward, this account will at least tell the world what the WBTS does not want told. Possibly, there are even persons reading this post who can correct and/or fill in details if they so desire.
Let me again state that the following account of an "accused" JW child molester is related as best as my recollection will allow based on mostly second and third hand JW sources from back in the mid 1990s. I did make some first hand observations which I thought were consistent with the allegations (which most other JWs did not believe).
Around 1994-6, a JW couple with unknown connections to southeastern Kentucky and Florida went through a separation and divorce. They possibly lived in Kentucky at the start, with the wife and children then moving to Florida. This family may have originated in Florida, or possibly only the wife was from Florida? At some point, the husband followed them to Florida (I assume to attempt a reconcilation).
At some point, the wife alleged that the husband had been molesting one or more of his children. The authorities were involved, and while I don't know much else that occurred in Florida, I was told by a Kentucky Elder that the husband spent some time in psychiatric confinement in Florida. The Elder indicated that such was due to a suicide attempt caused by the husband's depression over losing his wife and children. I later learned that this JW Elder was a master at "theocratic warfare", so it is very possible that the husband was actually incarcerated for a short term on some reduced charge relating to child abuse.
The by then ex-husband returned to Kentucky around 1996-7. The story told by Elders was that his "apostate" wife had made up the terrible accusations of child abuse simply to get custody of the children, so that she could prevent them from being reared JW. The poor victimized husband was so depressed that he had tried to commit suicide, so it was now everyone's job in the Circuit to be his new family and keep him from being depressed.
Before long this guy was showing up at meetings at other KHs scattered throughout the Circuit, and he would almost always be seen talking, socializing, and even sitting with divorcee JW mothers with children. He even began visiting the homes and eating meals with some of these single parent JW families.
Eventually, this created quite a stir among some of the non-elder JW families because they were under the impression that some of these JW divorcees were not eligible to re-marry. The gossip also included concern over this middle-aged male's habit of frequently initiating interaction with children at the KHs.
It was learned that some of the Elders were not only excusing his conduct, but they were even encouraging such as a means of helping with his depression and alleged suicidal tendencies due to his losing his own wife and children. The excuses that I heard always included derogatory comments regarding his APOSTATE ex-wife. My impression was that the Elders were so upset over losing a fight to an "apostate" that they were willing to not only overlook, but actually encourage conduct that at any other time would have caused them to go after his guy.
I have no idea whether the JW ex-husband was guilty of any abuse of any kind, or what ever became of him. I just know that I was even more shocked at the conduct of the Elders in the Circuit. -

Just ran across this great old thread, and thought I would resurrect it with both comments and questions:
1. The Rutherfords who were "Bible Students" living in Newcastle, England could very well have been parents or other relatives of the infamous pyramidologist, Adam Rutherford. Google the keyterms and you find Adam living in Newcastle in 1941. I couldn't find a Biography on Adam, so it may be possible that it is even he and his wife??? Thus, "Institute of Pyramidology" may be another Watchtower offshoot.
2. Only briefly noted is Joseph F. Rutherford's LTTE in the January 15, 1914 Watch Tower magazine in which he takes (and Russell publishes) a MAJOR SHOT at Dr. Jones of the Chicago Bible Students. It would seem that Rutherford was fighting with some Bible Student "heavies" long before 1917, and despite today's BSers trying to paint the picture otherwise, Russell and Rutherford were "joined at the hip" after 1908-9, when Rutherford helped Russell maneuver Russell's and the WBTS's assets out of the state of Pennsylvania, and away from Maria, her lawyers, and the PA Courts. After those legal and illegal shenanigans, and the later legal wranglings with Russell's opposers, Rutherford "owned" Russell. Whatever went on in 1915, Russell was not about to do anything that might peeved Rutherford so as to loosen his lips. As slick as Russell was, he was no match for Rutherford; nor were Russell's sychophants. By the time Russell croaked, Rutherford already controlled the people who actually held power over the Society's assets.
3. Has anyone successfully ordered any of Bill Cetnar's old materials from his widow? I snailmailed a request for a current booklist several years ago, and never received anything. Is there a website or email address? -

Brother Turner certainly has not had the typical JW rearing. When did he ever find time to pioneer?
MEET CHRISTOPHER L. TURNER
Christopher Turner is keeping the real-estate tradition alive! Christopher's grandfather, who was also a real estate broker, remembers tales of his grandfathers' success at the dinner table. Therefore real estate continues to be a family passion.
Chris was born in Hammond, In and raised in Gary, IN. He proudly graduated with scholastic honors from William A. Wirt High School, in Miller, Indiana, ranked 4th out of his class and receiving two four-year scholarships! (One from Bank-One and the other from the Urban League) Later Christopher graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Computer Information Systems. After completing college, Christopher decided to pursue real estate as a career.
Chris often reflects favorably on his upbringing and training he received from his parents and teachers at Nobel Elementary School, Emerson Visual and Performing Arts and Wirt High School.
The business community played an important role in shaping Christopher's charismatic personality while he worked as a busser, waiter, host and manager at Miller Bakery Caf in the Miller section of Gary, Indiana.
Chris leisure time consists of playing the piano, looking for deals on the internet, and basketball. Chris firmly believes that owning a piece of the land" is an exciting and lucrative adventure. And as a new agent with Century 21 Powers since September 8, 2004 he hopes to make buying and selling houses an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Gary:
It will never be known how many times a Watchtower representative pulled out the "We are an United Nations Affilated NGO" card in Africa, India, S. America, etc. between 1991 and 2002 (and may even still be doing so).
Also, don't forget that Phillip Brumley and other legal staffers appeared before a Congressional sub-committee for about 3-4 consecutive years in the late 1990s trying their best to get U.S. legislators to put pressure on European governments to ease up on religious freedom restrictions.
There's more. We just haven't caught them yet. -

King's pick for board spurs suit
Oct. 18, 2005
By Andy Grimm / Post-Tribune staff writer
GARY City GOP leaders have sued Mayor Scott L. King for not appointing Republicans to city boards and commissions, but they have no problems with him replacing Democrats with people who have no interest in politics. City Democrats have a few questions for the mayor, who declared himself a political independent this spring.
King recently appointed Christopher L. Turner to a seat on the Gary Housing Authority board, replacing Democrat Harlee Currie. The five-member board now is comprised of two Democrats, two Republicans, and Turner a Jehovah's Witness who spurns political affiliations on religious grounds.
"He doesn't vote (in political elections) at all, as far as I know," city Republican Party Chairman Quentin Smith said. "If it's not a problem for the mayor, it's not a problem for me."
Rudy Clay, county Democratic Chairman and former city chairman, said he was disappointed.
"I'm not sure if he can do that, but I certainly would like to see a Democrat in that spot," said Clay, a Lake County Commissioner from Gary.
Smith sued King for appointing Miller resident Michael Doyne to a Republican-held seat on the Gary Airport Commission. State statutes bar having more than two members affiliated with the same party serving on a four-member airport board. Doyne registered to vote the 2003 Democratic primary, which would officially qualify him as a Democrat unless local GOP leaders approve of him as an appointee.
Turner, a 23-year-old real estate agent, has never voted, Lake County Election Board records indicate.
After winning three terms as a Democrat, King declared himself a political independent after disagreements with state and local party members over jockeying for the Lake County party chairmanship.
Turner's political indifference was barely discussed when King interviewed him for the post.
"He has a background in real estate and he is a bright man and on the youthful side, which I thought was important," King said.
King has questioned whether state statutes that dictate the political affiliations of his appointees are legal, especially now that he has declared himself a political independent. Attorneys for the city and GOP were to have attended a hearing this month, but the date was postponed because King was touring Chinese cities with a delegation from the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The Housing Authority board may be the only government entity in the monolithically Democratic city in which the GOP has parity, Smith said.
After generations as a non-factor in Gary politics Smith's predecessor as city chairman, Otho Lyles, was removed after it was revealed that party funds had been donated to Democrat's campaigns the GOP is making a push, Smith said.
While he's got no problem with Turner, Smith said the party's lawsuit will continue and he still wants input into King's future appointments.
"When you don't listen (to city GOP leaders), it's an arrogance that bespeaks that (he) doesn't give a (expletive) what (we) say," Smith said.
Clay said that when he led the city party before King's defection, the mayor seldom gave him a voice in Democratic appointments.
"He's always kind of done his own thing," he said.
