I personally haven't been Jonesing for one at all. I cannot imagine why anyone would want one. I mean, someone just give me a beer and turn on the television, cuz' I really don't care about the comic book section of the newspapers either.

So it seems that the newbiews were going to be fast introduced to the meritocracy known as JWs.
That's what it really was all about, Oz.
So, I guess if a fatherless boy who had to fix his grandmothers leaking roof last month, he could be as ineligible as,say: A fornicating intruder who comes to the hall to meet girls. I remember being busy with some work so badly once that I showed up at the hall one Thursday night not knowing that I had the 5 minute talk. Usually the elder in charge will find a substitute when someone doesn't show. No questions asked. But this jerk had to take me aside and get a good dig in on me because I had no dad to defend me and I still showed up like a dumbass.
He said: "The society says I have to take you off the ministry school. There's nothing I can do: my hands are tied. Satan's taken over your mind."

The KM's are a litmus test for tricky JW's to find out if certain individuals are active JW's who go to meetings regularly. They use the KM test (usually a one-liner thing from a paragraph)when they chat on the internet with apostates (which, of course, they are forbidden to do, but they do anyway) .
The KM trick is a laughable old school apostasy test for disobedient JW's who browse apostate info' on the net. Isn't it nice to know the kind of people who disfellowshipped you ?

JW Definition of "Spiritual Activities" - Ridiculously Narrow
by Seeker4 inthe thread on jws and hobbies got me to thinking about this, one of my basic disagreements with witness thinking.
the wts always seemed to be dividing activities into those that were "spiritual," and those that weren't.
in witness-land, going to meetings, praying, going out in field service and personal bible study were basically considered the only "spiritual activities.

Does
"sacredservice"includeeverydayactivitiesoflife, suchascaringforourfamilies, maintaininggoodmoralsandthelike? No. "Sacred service" applies to that which directly involves our worship of God. It includes formal and informal witnessing, sharing in worship at Kingdom Halls, caring for our meeting places, all activity related to providing Bibles and Bible literature, as well as sacrifices that we may make in encouraging and aiding our brothers, spiritually and materially, to keep active in Jehovah?s work.?8/15, pp. 30, 31.
This is exactly what I mean by their unacceptance of the duties of orphans toward their widowed mothers and grandparents. Although this is what God says should be done by orphans "first", and to "keep paying due compensation to (them)", the GB has negated all good sense in our duties of caring for the elderly as if it were nothing of any spiritual importance in God's eyes. So, so much for "pure worship" and the fatherless boy ! Iguess if your infirm parents and grandparents become incapable of sacred service, then you can simply bow out of your duties to them and just "pioneer-it-out". What a low-life excuse for shirking responsibilities to the aged and decrepit ! I always wondered why so many middle-aged couples were moving to where "the need is greater". It is so that they can get away from their responsibilities to their parents, while having a whole bunch of "elders" cover for them in their effort to exhonerate themselves from this wrongdoing ! Meanwhile a pioneer can count his time to stop in at a hospital for 5 minutes and say hi to your parent or grandparent, chalking it up as "sacred service" in God's eyes ?
Well, F%*K ME !!!!!!
So, the laundry mat Watchtower moles are the only ones performing "sacred service" according to them. But we all know the real reason why they build these people up only to tear down others who serve God in more personal and private matters. Can you say "contributions", not to mention the fact that there are vultures watching at the magazine closet to make sure that the "publisher" pays for the mag's before contributions are ever collected in the field service.
Low-life scoundrels !

Dating an Ex-JW
by dyone ini am dating someone who recently left the jw religion.
i am not a jw, nor do i align myself with any specific religious organization.. intellectually, it was very difficult for me to accept that he could be absorbed into what i believe is one of the strongest cults of our society, but in time i realized just how easy it was to be absolved in something that you are forced into out of fear.. he's at a point right now where he is reading/researching various literature and discussing his experiences openly *such as boards as these* and i encourage such discussions.
he does not see himself ever returning to the religion and is even willing to face that he may be shunned from his own family as a result.. here is where i am "stuck".

So far as you causing him problems;quite to the contrary, the JW's are appalled and surprised to see that anyone of any substance could love one of their ex-communiques, as they are taughyt to hate them so much, especially those that they consider "apostates". The biggest enemies of a religion are their victims.
They will actually learn from you and your love of him that he is not the bad guy they paint him up to be, unless of course he is and you are just blinding yourself. Somehow, I doubt that. My wife is a gal from "the world" who I met 7 years after my being disfellowshipped for apostasy, and my family is on pins and needles because of her interest in the religion and her love of me. I also remained a virgin until I met my wife at age 32.
Oh, and yes, love is more than enough to suffice in keeping a relationship with him and his his family. In fact, it is the thing that will keep them on pins and needles to keep in touch with him for important family issues. The hypocrites really don't know what to do in the face of real love, and your intrusive love from the outside may become the only thing making them treat him like a human being..
(Not an opinion. Just the voice of experience)
HOWEVER, if you ever get baptised as a JW they will hold YOU under their jurisdictional thumbs to make sure you do not show ANY approval of him, otherwise YOU will also be disfellowshipped.
They will turn handstands and perform for you in order to win you over, only to put you up on a pedestal high enough for the whole crowd to take shots at you. So be careful of that.
They love to implicate and disfellowship people. -

Things the FDS knows well but cunningly conceals
by greendawn inwhat things do you believe the fds is well aware of but refuses to disclose to its followers because it is not in its interests to do so, and why?
i give one example: abraham, isaac and jacob did not look forward to an earthly but a heavenly life, according to paul at hebrews 11: 13-16 .
"13 all these people were still living by faith when they died.

That the "Pioneer Spirit" is actually a very real spirit propounded as something good and necessary for decades among all JW's, and that this said "Spirit" is actually employed by certain individuals for the sake of recruiting pioneers through trickery and compulsion which is not Christian at all in origin. See 2 Corinthians 11:4-144 For, as it is, if someone comes and preaches a Jesus other than the one we preached, or YOU receive a spirit other than what YOU received, or good news other than what YOU accepted, YOU easily put up [with him]. ... For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light.
2 Cor. 9: 7 Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Notice also that Paul was writing to the congregation when saying "YOU" in his letter to the Corinthians. However, the goverrning body has always managed to apply these verses to outsiders in the world, and especially the clergy of Christendom. -

Seeker4,
I read your profile and must say that I don't know how you can say that you do not believe in "any" of it after all that you have seen in life.
Much of the JW teaching is perfectly good, but the heresy is the thing that doesn't set well with many, such as myself.
From the looks of things I think you should take another good look at the gal sitting next to you in the photo and reconsider whether or not you really do not believe in "any" of what you were taught. She's enough to make any man to believe at least a little, right ?

..."it's all right there on his service record."
I would say that he is narrow-minded indeed, but the fact is, the org' has created the methods and the spiritual climate to make him see things that way. What is the word? Oh yes, "brainwashed".
