Is ten young to get a perm??Could it damage her hair??How long would it take to grow out if she doesn't like it??Does she have to keep it doing it every so offten??
I wanted to wait until my daughter was thirteen but upon seeing her schoolmates and just being damn tired of doing it myself (the process of scratching out, washing, blow drying, pressing (not often), and braiding - I don't know how my mother did it with two girls) I gave in. I know of some black mothers getting their daughters' hair permed at five years, that's too young. It could damage her hair if I allow it to be processed too often (every two weeks or one a month), I'm only going allow her to get touch ups once every two or three months depending on the rate of her hair growth. If I go longer that that she could experience breakage. It could take a year to grow out but she would still need to go get it done to cut down on the amount of breakage.
We talked about what she needs to do to keep her hair up and I'll be monitoring and helping her since I'm an old pro at this.
Seems like a really big commitment. When I got my hair permed i let it grow out but my hair waas never really the same.It used to be really streight before the first perm and as I got older it got curly. Now I blow it out everyday when I wash it to get the curl out.Or I use a flat iron but I'm kinda lazy to do that everyday.
BTW what is scratching out??Do you really have to scratch her hard??Does that hurt her??
