  lyin eyes - thank you for you comments. I don't agree with what you said, but you were able to express your thoughts without being condescending.

  Big Tex - I'm sorry I expressed my anger inappropirately. You're right; I have a lot of issues with the god thing. I really don't understand why a person can't express his disbelieve in god without a lecture from a believer. I'm sure you didn't feel like you were lecturing and maybe I read too much into what you said, but I have talked to many believers who are troubled by the fact that I don't believe. Of course, this probably brings up all the shame heaped upon me by my JW family for being who I am.

  It does seem that the very nature of believing in a loving god can make the believer condescending. She/he supposely has something the unbeliever doesn't have and should be pitied. Like I say, maybe I read too much into what you said, but this attitude is common among some believers.

  What say you?

  I say that anger is a natural emotion and many times we have a right to be angry. However, we don't have the right to express our anger in inappropirate ways, such as by hurting others. But to calmly say I'm angry because of what the Watchtower has done and to want them to pay for the suffering they've caused others is perfectly normal. I don't believe anger goes away when others tell us it's unhealthy to be angry. We may stuff it, but it'll come back to bite us, and mabye others.

  Reborn, I can really relate to what you said. You said it very well. About the only thing I can add is that I'm angry that I didn't go to college right after high school.

  You are very wise to express your anger, in an appropriate way, instead of trying to stuff like so many people do.

  Nobody seems to give a shit about anything I say. I guess I am just THAT boring

  integ, I know how you feel. There have been several times I've posted on issues that are very important to me and I've gotten no feedback. Of course, since i'm gay there are few who can relate. Recently I took issue with someone who made generalized statements about gay men who marry. I tried to explain all the pressure that a young gay man feels to conform to the straight world and the total lack of empathy, not to mention the total lack of information. Everyones expects them to have perfect insight into what the ramifications of marrying are. Well, I got no response. I must admit that many on this board are supportive of us gay people, however, this was a subject I would have liked to have had some feed back on.

  I hope if this board doesn't fulfil your needs that you explore other ways of doing so. I probably will stick around just because I still like to know what's going on inside the board.

  Personally I think you should tell him that you're angry and what you're angry about.

  Big Tex, don't you get it? She said she doesn't believe in god. She's not going to talk to an imaginary something just because you need to believe in it. I also find it ofensive that you say she created god in her image. Excuse me. Are you saying she's like the dub god? Your insensitivity makes me want to puke.

  A Hard Day

  today was a hard day for me.

  i have been 'allowed' to have contact with my family because of my dad's deteriorating condition.

  he was diagnosed 2 years ago with brain tumors.

  DJ, sorry to hear you're being treated so horribly. I've been out of the church and the family for eleven years and have a mother, who doesn't speak to me, who is 81. I decided a long time ago that if she needed financial help or anything else that I would tell my brother that it is his responsability since he's still her son. I suppose if there were no other family I might be a little more charitable, but there's my brother and a big extended family of dubs. Anyway, what you've been going through has convinced that I've made the right decision. Of course, in your case it's differend since your dad did talk to you before he got sick. Of course, even if he hadn't you may have gone ahead and helped. Each person has to make his own decision in these matters. I wish you peace to help you cope with what your family dishes out.

  is it just me, or there others who have no room for religion in their lives?.

  i appreciate that others are entitled to their beliefs and opinions concerning such beliefs, but i am amazed at the number of posters, who, after years of being oppressed and mislead by religion, still manage to garner some sense from the whole notion of god / religion / spirituality.. cheeses the cynic.

  I don't give a rats arse about religion and I don't believe in a supreme being, but I am in agreemnt with what JamesThomas said about spiritualtiy:

  Spirituality, on the other hand (in the way I am using it here), is about discovering what/who we truly are.

  and with what Aztec said about spirituallity in daily life.

  I call myself a spiritual atheist.

  what job or career would you have loved to do, but being a jw, you weren't aloud to do that?

  and how about the college or university course you couldn't get because the end was too close.

  I wanted to go to college and major in music. I finally did go to college when I was fifty and graduated last December at the age of 53. However, I decided I was to old to major in music and majored in Spanish instead.

  I also left be cuase I'm gay. Just couldn't pretend to be straight any longer. Once I left and read COC I was sorry i hadn't left a lot sooner. Those guys have the audacity to tell me there's something wrong with being gay!
