guess i'll be the first one to do an (inevitable) thread about 9-11. hard to believe it's been 7 years already.
i was at work when one of my co-workers came up and told me that a plane had hit the world trade center.
i thought it was awful, but i figured it was a small single engine plane that maybe lost its way in the fog.
I was at work having started at 6:00 a.m.
Someone came in and said about a plane hitting one of the towers.
Was watching the replay of plane number two within minutes of being told. Lobby of the building
I work in had two T.V.s going.
After watching the first one come down I said to one of the security people something to the effect
that someone had done their homework for the attack.

the last topic got me thinking about this.. my first computer was back in 1981, a sinclair zx81, it has 1k of memory.
then in 1982 i progressed to a clone of an apple 2 with 16k of memory which i incresed to 48k, a floopy drive for that apple cost me $600 !!!
.. in approx 1987 i got an ibm xt 640megs with a 20meg hard drive..it was like a dream .
A trash 80 with both tape and floppy drives.
so last night, our cong asked us to pass a resolution.. what i noticed was, the elder reads the resoltion and then asks for everyone in favor, while he is looking down.. all of the dubs just raise their hands, and before even looking up, th elder says, ok, we'll approve this and send it off.. what a joke !!
why even bother.
just make the rules and tell them people, don't give them the illusion that they have a say in the matter.

I have seen many "no's" given to resolutions, even did so myself. No backroom, no JC, no rubber hose. Even saw a couple of elders vote against some resolutions.
well, it finally came out and last night a group of friends and i went to see it.
we are all die hard x-files fans, and have looked forward to a new x-files movie for years.
so what did we think, after it was over, well .... we thought it was terrible.
Thanks for the review. Now I'll skip the movie. I really miss the good X-Files.
this is something that will possibly piss off a lot of people.
i left the jw family i was raised in when i was 16. i had a lot of angst and just wanted freedom.
i spent some time in my early 20's reconsidering that decision to leave jwdom and came back to the decision i made at 16, but was more logical and informed that time around.

she proceeded to ask about my childhood, etc.
and i had to spill the beans on my jw background (i usually keep this to myself!

I really don't understand that. I have been to Witness funerals. I really can't say I cried for those that I really didn't know all that well. I didn't cry for my fellow classmates who died while still in school either. I didn't know them well enough.
However those that were close to them certainly cried and showed emotion. I don't think there is anything wrong with showing grief.
That said I beleive that there are those who simply will not display grief in public. It's not in their nature or maybe their upbringing.

At this point I think he needs to heed the judge's advice. He needs a lawyer.
Did not one of the articles say that his daughter received 80 transfusions? Didn't it also say the transfusions were discontinued because they were not helping?
