How do you manage to keep JW friendships after you left the organization?

it seems incredibly difficult.

those who leave the org.

(or fade) no longer have anything in common with jehovah's witnesses, nor do they want to stick around to get radiated by the fear and guilt that saturates every aspect of a witnesses' life.. i've lost all but one of my jw friends quite simply because i can no longer condone the evil things that they condone.

Although I mentioned to him that I wasn't going to meetings, I sincerely wanted to know about the flags been flown out side the KH in Chile (he lives there). I then showed him the letter from the chilean branch. 24 hour later I was blocked. Although telling of jw friendship I can't say it's surprising.

Funny that you mention something like that. I had this JW "friend" (actually wanted to date me back in the days) that I hadn't spoken to in years, she found me on Facebook and requested me as a friend. Before accepting I asked her if she was sure she wanted to be my "friend" since I was inactive and not seen as good association. She said yea, gave me all this crap about how she knew I was a good person and that she didn't judge people. So last Friday she sends me an invite for me to go with her to the 3 day convention she is having mid July. I replied telling her I would be passing on the invitation because I had just finished reading "Crisis of conscience" and had some thinking to do, I also thanked her for keeping me in mind. Well I swear it almost seemed that she hit that "unfriend" button before I even hit send. I say good riddance!

I never really had super "spiritual" friends so that helps. All but three of my friends who were JW's are still JW's. One of them is my best friend and I never stopped talking to him or hanging out and he has never stopped talking to me now that I have been inactive. Of the other two one surprised me because he is now a MS (growing up I thought for sure he would be out at 18) we don't hang out or even talk anymore, if we see each other we say hi and small talk but that's it. The third one I still talk to online once in a while but never hang out either, doesn't help her dad is the CO. All my other friends who were JW's are out, so we still talk and hang out sometimes.

Why JW marriage is a huge problem for the organization.

the difficulty of finding a marriage mate is well known for sisters.

but i would say it's hard for brothers also.

I have a friend who is in a kind of similar situation. He is a good looking guy, in fact as teenagers all the girls had crushes on him, the problem is that he is caught in the border. He is a JW and won't date non JW, but he is not spiritual enough (if at all) for any single JW out there. Even if he were to marry a JW, I fear the marriage would be doomed just because of how non spiritual he is. But at the same time he won't date/marry a non JW for fear of disfellowship.

well my mom asked me if i would be attending the district assembly that is taking place this weekend with them.

i gave her a firm "no", she gave a look of total surprise.

probably because in the past i would say, maybe or if i can and would sometimes show up for half a day.

Well my mom asked me if I would be attending the District Assembly that is taking place this weekend with them. I gave her a firm "NO", she gave a look of total surprise. Probably because in the past I would say, maybe or if I can and would sometimes show up for half a day. This time thought I said "NO" no excuse or explanation given. However, knowing what this assembly is going to be about (the inactives), I am not looking forward to dealing with either my mom or even worse my dad next Monday.

Is this doctrine still in in effect?

so something i never knew was the fact jw's were taught that jesus is only the mediator for the anointed class and not for everyone.

i only found this out after reading "crisis of conscience" and i was actually pretty shocked to learn so.

if that is the case, when they pray why even bother saying the words "in the name of jesus christ we ask"?

Another thing, how does this fall in line with the new teaching of the anointed class not being the same as the faithful and discreet slave??

Wait what? How come I never knew this... I have never heard about this in my time with the witnesses... How strange. I wonder if they deliberately choose not to discuss doctrine that could potentially be very controversial.

Don't feel bad, I only found this out days ago. When you think about it, I doubt most JW's are aware or understand it. I mean once you get to the meeting you go into drone mode, read paragraph, answer paragraph using the paragraph. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Wow, I can't believe that anyone that truly understands what the WT is saying would be ok with this! I mean you might as well end a prayer saying "in the name of the faithful and discreet slave we ask".

My question though is whether this doctrine is still in effect or whether "New Light" has been revealed (lol) about this?

Wedding with a sad side

so the family attended a wedding this weekend that we had coming up for a while.

the man getting married (a close relative of my wife) is the son of an (now) elder.

he was baptized young.

Sadly I had a similar experience, my Dad walked out of my wedding when my cousin (who is DA) walked in. He did not attend the reception either. It really hurt my wife.
