Is this doctrine still in in effect?
by WasOnceBlind inso something i never knew was the fact jw's were taught that jesus is only the mediator for the anointed class and not for everyone.
i only found this out after reading "crisis of conscience" and i was actually pretty shocked to learn so.
if that is the case, when they pray why even bother saying the words "in the name of jesus christ we ask"?

Another thing, how does this fall in line with the new teaching of the anointed class not being the same as the faithful and discreet slave?? -

Wait what? How come I never knew this... I have never heard about this in my time with the witnesses... How strange. I wonder if they deliberately choose not to discuss doctrine that could potentially be very controversial.
Don't feel bad, I only found this out days ago. When you think about it, I doubt most JW's are aware or understand it. I mean once you get to the meeting you go into drone mode, read paragraph, answer paragraph using the paragraph. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Wow, I can't believe that anyone that truly understands what the WT is saying would be ok with this! I mean you might as well end a prayer saying "in the name of the faithful and discreet slave we ask". -

My question though is whether this doctrine is still in effect or whether "New Light" has been revealed (lol) about this?

Wedding with a sad side
by StarTrekAngel inso the family attended a wedding this weekend that we had coming up for a while.
the man getting married (a close relative of my wife) is the son of an (now) elder.
he was baptized young.

Sadly I had a similar experience, my Dad walked out of my wedding when my cousin (who is DA) walked in. He did not attend the reception either. It really hurt my wife. -

Are You "Technically" Still A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ineven if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?
your thoughts please..

I have been inactive for 10 years now, I was publicly censored (not sure if that is the term) when I got married to my non JW wife ...for marrying her. I use to go to assemblies mostly because of my mom but lately haven't been to any in like the last 3 years. I still attend memorial mainly for my mom. Now that I think about it, not once has any elder even tried to contact me to get me back....then again towards the later parts of my active days I was kind of considered the black sheep. The only one that hounds me about going back is my dad. I once thought about calling an elder out of the blue and giving so,e outrageously high time report (fake, always was fake anyways) and kind of leaving him dumfounded. -

What was your eye opening moment?
by WasOnceBlind inif you had to pinpoint the time or experience that finally made you open your eyes, what would it be?.
i think for me it was the time i saw my dad shun his brother who he had not seen in decades just because he was a da'ed jw.
i thought to my self "no way jesus would do that.

Except "inactive" ones aren't going to see this because they won't be there!
This is pure propaganda to make those that remain in the cult feel better about shunning the family members and former friends. You hit the nail right in the head! I am really not looking forward to my seeing my Dad after his DC. He usually goes into cult mode after everyone but I'm sure that with this one he will take it to the extreme. I have been inactive for about 9 years now, you would think he gets it (I'm never going back) but just a month ago he started bugging me about when I'm going back to meetings. I said IDK. After this DC I can just picture the awkward conversation we will be having and I wouldn't put it past him to try to ambush me with some elder when I go over to his house (daily basis) to pick up my son.

The Reason Why Jehovah's Witnesses Will Never Prosper Is The Children
by minimus ini believe that the religion will remain stagnant due to their achilles heel, the kids, the children, that next generation.. most of them really don't wa t to be in the religion.
the parents may have tried everything within their power to make the kids love jehovah but we all know you can't force someone to love you and you can't make a grown person stay in a relationship or situation if they really don't want to be there..

Many children of JW's may go through a phase of not wanting it, but they still stay, even if they don't entirely believe it, because it becomes their way of life, their social life, their normal paradigm.Sadly this is true and I have seen it personally. Growing up a JW I had two friends who were never really into being JW, I was certain that once they grew up they were out. To my surprise they are both still deep in it and one is even a MS, but I can guarantee that neither knows anything about the doctrines and they are just there because of the social club aspect of it and because they don't want to be DF'ed.

The Governing Body is indicted.
by John Aquila inthe governing body of the watchtower is not as immune as they might think..
anything can happen at any time to any organization no matter how big, how powerful, how religious or how long they been involved in wrongdoing.. .
fifa, the powerful and polarizing governing body for soccer, came under prosecutorial assault from two fronts wednesday.

Hopefully many witnesses would question why the Borg was attacked before Babylon the Great and the facade would come tumbling down.
NOPE! Knowing them they would call it the start of the great tribulation!
