Elder Who, that is very ineresting way how you put it.
chappy you said:
I also believe the Bible has a personal message for everyone
Yes it does, It calls all Men and women to Faith in Jesus Christ and Repentance of Sin
chappy you also said:
A particular scripture may tell me something I want or need to know where as the next person may get something quite different.
cute that this may sound, this is just plan Barthian non-sence. The bible does not have different secret meaning for different people but the same meaning and message for all so that they may know Christ in a redemptive way. One can not interprate the bible in a consistant maner in the way that you speek of.
anew writes:
Yes, very much so, yet not determined as to how.
Only by God's Grace by Friend only by God's Grace.
But God who's rich in mercy just read Eph 2
grace and peace,

i don't even feel the need to be a part of anything like that right now, and maybe never will.. but i know of some who have joined other churches/groups since leaving the borg.. why do some join another religion and why won't some ever get involved again?.

By God's grace alone He has led me out of the WT some 12 years ago and into his salvation by trusting him alone which God has enabled me to do. My first church I was Grace Community Church of the Valley in Sun Valley, CA pastored by a very very very famous preacher John McArthur. He is a good bible teacher for the most part but he is a dispensationalist and a quazi calvinist in his doctrine of salvation, sadly sometimes he can be a bit moralistic and less Christo-centric in his aplication. When I moved back up to bay area I attended a very strict Reformed Baptist Church that held to the 1989 London Baptist Confession but I soon left because they held to strictly to the sabbath issue (which latter in time I did become more sabaterian) Then I Joined a calvinistic independent bible-baptist church that was alot like my former church in LA (John McArthurs) it was kind of cool the paster was cool but they could'nt shake the dispensational teachings, even thought they are not truely dispensational more of a psuedo dispensationalism (Progressive Dispensationalism see Derral Bach's writtings) I was heading more and more to a covenantal reformed calvenist position expressed by the Westminster Confession of Faith. I eventually left and joined the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, a bible believing reformed calvinist church. Just read the writtings of John Murray or Robert Lewis Dabney or Gerhaudus Vos or Corneleus Van Til, or Greg Bahnson

may you all have peace!.
you are searching... or you search... now!.
true rendering - "you are searching the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are those which testify about me.
I do believe that the bible alone (sola scriptura) is suffiecient in itself to tell us all we need to know about God, Jesus and Salvation.
The point made about in John 5:39-40 is that the scriptures point us to Jesus Christ. The bible is a Jesus book and to read the bible and not see Jesus for who he is and what he has done and is doing to redeem his people is to miss the message of the bible completly.
sola fide,

ecclesiastes 3:8
: there is a time for peace and a time for war.
there are some arguments as to weather a christian would fight in military service, or would remain peaceful to all men, up until death.
It is OK for a Christian to Join the Army. In Acts chapter 10 Peter never comanded Corneleus to quit the Army.
Some Christian are called into life long service into the Army.
