we now have more than 165,000 [literature] carts on the streets in over 50 countries.

it gives us visibility and availability.

They might not "outsource" it per se... but handing off business interests to (slightly) outside the Org?

They do allow the signs to be printed at FedEx Office or other businesses, but they have strict rules about not e-mailing the image files. The files have to be brought to the printer on a USB drive.

I guess they're afraid that someone will get a hold of the source images and modify them into something anti-JW?

The org actually has a lot of purchasing and storage (and maybe manufacturing) happening in China. I know of some who are involved in working with the HK branch, but in mainland China. Of course they do so under other corporate names. They buy chairs, carts, and a lot of materials in bulk in China and store them in China until needed in another part of the world.

Captcha is not working consistently

after identifying/choosing the appropriate pictures/photos the verify button does not respond.

the captcha screen just sits there.

it has been taking multiple attempts to be able to finally sign in.

Did you know that Google is behind Captcha and uses our responses to teach their AI how to recognize items in pictures? I've read several articles on it and it's pretty cool, but also a little scary that we may be helping to create SkyNet or Genisys (as it's called in the new movie).

well another big bad elder here just wanting to say sorry.. i'm sorry that so many were treated like crap, and shown that god's love is not to be found around jehovah's witnesses.

i'm sorry that inadvertently i've likely taught many to judge and as such see that racism permeates every corner of the jw world, else why else would someone be of the world, or even inactive.

i'm sorry i sat in on a jc, and voted to df.

How Many JWs actually Watch JW.TV?

what do you know from your own experience and talking to other active jws?

i know from my own informal, non-scientific survey that most jws do not watch jw.tv.

Every family that has 'family worship night' watches it regularly. Even those who don't have a regular 'family worship night' watch it as it is an easy way to assuage the guilt of not having a regular family worship.

Most of dubs in my hall watch the monthly broadcast as soon as it is released or sometime during that week. Many watch the little additional videos as well. It really has started to take the place of personal study as well.

We started to watch it before I awoke, but now I can't stomach it. It was probably one of the things that my wife noticed before I expressed my doubts to her.

I know some sisters who have been doing the same job at Bethel for 2 - 3 decades. There's not a lot of options for the sisters.

The 1995 Generation Change

i was just a teenager and have a vivid memory of sitting in a chair doing a microphone for the sunday meeting.

everyone was commenting that it didn't mean the end was far off, and it didn't change the condition of the dead, or the 144,000, or the trinity so we should still remain faithful.

this is my first memory as a kid being just a teen that i ever had a single doubt.

I didn't give it a lot of thought at the time. I was graduating HS and dating. I remember the change, but I also remember how much they stressed that the end was still coming soon, you know because things were so bad and just getting worse. I made life altering decisions based on how much they emphasized that the end was close.

I wish I had woke up then...

Huge story unfolding at Warwick

its been mentioned before that warwick is a toxic dump and now the jw's are suing a former owner for compensation.

well this is huge on so many levels.

one they new it was contaminated back a few years ago so why move your headquarters there?

From the documents I read involving the Warwick site, the claim was made by the prior owners that the contamination was cleaned up. After purchasing it, they found that the contamination was more extensive than disclosed and was not fully cleaned up. I believe they have already cleaned up the contamination, but are suing for reimbursement of the cleanup costs.

Thinking of Going Full Disclosure With Wife. Sorta

With my wife, I know I can't attack the Bible directly. I think living in the South, being raised in the truth by uberdubs, and around non-JWs that hold a high regard for the Bible means that it is easier to point out how the WT bends the scriptures to support their doctrine. I haven't even started my fade (even though she knows I have doubts) because it would hinder my ability to study with her and her keep an open mind.

One thing I have noticed is how someone is more open to questioning their beliefs if they slow down their activity. Now I see why the WTBS pushes so hard for everyone to keep busy, to "stay in the center of JHs org", etc. I have seen how my wife went from expressing some of her own doubt back to complacent after spending extra time out in service. Even I (even though I'm fully awake) feel a sense of satisfaction if I go out in service. I think it comes from the years of being told that this is what we should do and spending time with the only "friends" I have.
