Disfellowshipping Spree In My Congregation

i just was looking back at a group photo on social media from exactly one year ago.. there are 12 persons in it, and since last year 3 of those persons in that photo have been disfellowshipped, plus one more not in the photo.

so that's a total of 4 persons from my congregation of a little over 100 publishers.. unfortunately 3 are back at the meetings and taking the shunning, but one seems to be fully awake and has disappeared completely.. that's the most persons i recall being disfellowshipped in my congregation in such a short while.

usually it's like 1 every 2 or 3 years.. i wouldn't mind seeing more people leaving.. there are currently 3 persons who i wonder about.

My wife and I are changing from ASL to English, mostly to help with my fade. The first meeting we went to, they had a local needs and discussed what the CO had asked the congregation to work on. The CO had given them this same report for the last 2 visits meaning that they had this problem for at least a year. The problem was that they had a high number of 1-5 hour publishers (around 40%) and they had a low number of RVs (around 30% of publishers had 1 - 2 RVs/month and many had 0).

As soon as I heard the report, I thought, we need to join this congregation. I'll fit right in and they won't bat an eye that I'm only reporting an hour a month or even skipping months. Coming from ASL where you were talked to if you had less than 15 hrs/month and the congregation averaged 20 hrs/month, I was quite surprised. I'm hoping the apathy rubs off on my wife.

that day is not for nissan 14th of the jewish calendar, or am i wrong ?

The WT moved away from the modern day Jewish calendar a few years ago. You know, because WT knows better than everyone else. /

Last year's was a day earlier than the modern day Nisan 14.

Not to mention they can claim that Jehovah blessed the construction!!! They'll say, "How many worldly projects finish early? It must be evidence of Jehovah's blessing!"

Discussion with a Pioneer

two weeks ago i had an opportunity to meet up with a pioneer whom a friend had accepted a "bible study" from.

my christian friend invited me to come along as support, so my plan was to sit back and listen for the most part.

well, that was the idea anyways.

'i have prayed, and confessed my sins to my god, i'm not telling them (the elders) anything'.

.. could this be a significant sign that there maybe a small dent in the armour of an active jw?

or is it just a case of 'keep your nose out' ?

If it was one of the "serious sins" that they constantly say in WTs that have to be confessed to elders, then the person probably has a "dent in their armor". It seems they have at least one article or assembly talk a year that states that "serious sins" (dfing offenses) have to be confessed to the elders in order to gain forgiveness.

Maybe his numbers and the congregations' numbers were bad. If there was a downward trend or if a few BoEs had contacted the branch about him, they would look to replace him just like you'd replace a middle manager.

I miss my family so much. I thought I was over it but I have breakdowns every few months thinking about my family

as most of you know i have been shunned by my family for 2 years because of a photo posted on facebook of me kissing another girl at a party.

the matter was not dealt with fairly but it is over now and i am 100% certain that jdub org is a cult.

but i miss my family so much.

Lots of people go back, get reinstated, and then fade. I don't see a problem with it if you can stomach it. Understand, though, that you will still be subject to JW rules. Even though Geoffrey Jackson said that inactive ones are not hounded, there have been recent experiences of ones who were inactive for years and yet were df'd when someone spotted them with a girlfriend/boyfriend or they said something against the org.

when i left the watchtower i realised it was best to put friendships on hold.

however i mentioned to my best friend that i didn't agree with how they handled child abuse issues and that was one of the reasons i left.. anyway as i am fortunate and own two rental apartments and he is a plumber so we have kept in contact, in that i email him when i require his services and he sends me the invoice.

anyway i am now dissociated, but yesterday i emailed him about a pluming problem, and he replied.. " sorry we missed going to the indian ( this was a comment made about us having a meal together about 9 months ago, which i backed out of because i felt he was too indoctrinated and i had not disassociated myself) anyway his email continued:-.

I say go to a meal with him and just act like a friend. If he brings up the pedophile problem or asks questions, answer them. I wouldn't unload everything on him. Let him ask questions first. Then you can start asking him questions to lead him to the answers. Just like we were taught as JWs, use leading questions.

No worries. They won't get a dime from me, not even the local congregation fund. The most I might give them is couple bucks to feed the visiting speaker.
