Anyone else have an Assembly this week-end?

the wife's aunt was df'ed right after the 1975 fiasco for getting married in a catholic church.
pretty harsh wouldn't you say?
anyway, her hard-core niece , my wifes' cousin patty, as well as many other loyal dubs followed doctrine and refused to have contact with her other than to urge her to return to the dubs after every wt meeting that told them to "reach out" to the dfed ones.

Anyway, her hard-core niece , my wifes' cousin Patty, as well as many other loyal Dubs followed doctrine and refused to have contact with her other than to urge her to return to the Dubs after every WT meeting that told them to "reach out" to the DFed ones. Keep in mind that Patty lived less than a mile away from her Aunt for more than 20 years.
So we get the call today that she has died. Patty immediately calls to tell us how sad she is and that she plans to travel the 600 miles to the funeral and that her Father, a JW Elder, plans to have the service in a KH.
I told her she is a hypocrite.

local jw elder made front page news by selling one of the area's top ten most expensive homes in 2009. ironically, or pehaps well planned, his home is the only one with a gate to keep out the pesky peddlers.
i don't know if you can make out the sign "camp david" in front of the house, but it is there!.
LOL! Dave is building an even better house of course! You may have already guessed that the Bros built the house for him, and then re-constructed it after Hurricane Ivan chewed it up.
He did have to pay for the materials (at wholesale of course)

Just in time for the January WT urging Dubs to quit their living wage jobs to Pioneer, and advising young Dubs that college is over-rated. No nice houses for the peons!
typical jw email message forwarded to me this afternoon :.
do not tire out!.
bro.
For you who have never met him, his nick-name is "Big".
"I like Big Butts and I cannot lie, prayin' to JeHo in the sky..."
You get the idea.
i am not the oldest but have 3 years here!
restrangled.. how about you?.
WT still sucks.
just noticed that in the february 2010 study edition of the watchtower, they refer to the "millions now living will never die" talk in 1918, but they have changed the title to "millions now living may never die".
only problem, they included the picture of the invitation to the talk, which says 'will'.. ooops.
it's on page 16. enjoy.. .
Spoke with a Bro at the Service Desk, and he was able to confirm that the talk as originally given beginning in Feb 1918 contained the word "may." Starting in March 1918 the verbage was changed to "will."
I aswked him why they are teaching 'old light' as 'new light' since the change was made from "may" to "will" not the other way around, and he told me to write a letter.

Just keep in mind that the vast amjority of new Dubs will never see the original book. Even if they do, most new ones do not read English so they will not be able to appreciate the nuances between future tense (will) and subjunctive (may).
Very nicely done and all I can do is gnash my teeth (or show up at the study and truthfully answer the question .)
just saw this pop up at the fuentes' forum extjforum.com.
http://www.extjforo.com/foro/showthread.php?t=15473 .
it's a scan (you can thank iloowy for the scan) of the march 15, 2010 watchtower where there's a picture of a radiant sun of a wt logo along with a tm mark right next to a paragraph that says 'they "will shine as brightly as the sun"' (matthew 13:43).. .
Why do I find the term "imitation Xian" so offensive? Would anyone like to offer at the Hall the opinion that the imitations are "like the Brothers who were caught molesting small children in the Congregation"?
i distinctly remember the last talk i gave.
it was a talk in the "back" school.
everyone in the room was someone i had known most of my life.
