"20,000/month being baptized into the organization"
by NeverKnew inthis is something i heard an elder say... .
is this possible?.
how many were baptized in all of 2012?.
-

They lose 7,000-8,000 per month due to death and probably that many again just go away.
Baptisms barely cover the losses.

The US spends dramatically more on locking people up than it does on educating them
Wanna bet? The nation's primary schools (5-16 years old generally) spent $10,165 per student per year. Most students (except for the wealthiest) will qualify for Pell Grants (federal), State grants, and low interest government insured loans to complete uni.
Incarceration costs more per head per year, obviously, but I'm not sure how the two can be compared since the objectives are so divergent. In any event the statement is patently false on its face.
It gets cloudier when one considers that education for trades and high school equivalancy degrees are offered free to all in prision.

do nothing or less than nothing to address the causes of crime, social issues etc.
Match the % of GDP and total spending per capita directed to addressing social issues by the US against that of any other nation in the world before making such a specious statement.
Chatitable donations made by US residents is also higher as a % of GDP than any other nation.
It's not for lack of trying that we have violent criminals. I for one am VERY happy that they are locked up safe and sound. It would be utter bedlam, like Chavs in the UK or soccer mobs, or terrorists randomly bombing London like the IRA used to before GB caved into their demands if they were released.

heartless prosecutors!
??? The fact that the majority commit heinous crimes does not register with you does it? Even the "non-violent" drug crimes leave a trail of lives in shambles. Witness the devastation left behind in Mexico by the drug producers and transporters. 63,000 murdered so that the "non-violent" criminals in the US have blow and weed.

If he was found "not guilty" it's because a jury of his peers reviewed both the prosecution's case as well as that of the defense and made the appropriate choice.
The beauty of the US justice system is that it follows case law.
In extreme cases a jury can also choose to disregard the judge if they feel that the law he is asking them to apply is "bad". Often the jury asks themselves the simple question "do I want this person as a neighbor"? In the case of the dad, the answer was obviously "YES"!

It's funny, but some seem to feel *bad* about seeing this chav scum sent up for a long time.
Especially the repeat violent offenders. Good riddance to them, and may they remain where they well deserve.
"Thug shot at police 19 times". In the US justice system every shot fired counts as one single event of attempted murder. I don't think 10 years (besides the battery for actually wounding an officer and whatever other charges he racked up) for trying to murder a police officer is excessive, and I bet that the majority feel the same.

Rumor: April 3, 2015 start of Great Tribulation?
by Londo111 inon another forum, somebody mentioned that there is a growing belief with those high up in watchtower hierarchy that the great tribulation will begin april 3, 2015. evidently, one has to check the skycharts for that date and compare with 33 ceand also compare with the history of jws for past 40, 80, 120 years.
dont ask me to verify the rumor...these things come and go.
im sure lots of people in hq believe all sorts of things.. .

Sounds like a perfect time to start a ten year construction project in Walkill.
