well i was back on that jw board i frequent and i found another puke worthy jw experience; this time from field service.

anybody got anything to share?

i will start...for a year and half i studied with a young women and she was making slow progress but progress none the less.

I know plenty of people who have been in:

Covers of magazines (WT), Greatest man book, scene as Jesus, and youth book. Even 1 from a life experience in a WT from 2-6 months ago. These people are glorified, and they are no better than us.

DaCheech is right about that one! I dated this kid (was never baptized) and he knew the young girl featured on the cover of the You Can Live Forever tract whose running (or doing something; I forget) Grew up in the same hall pretty much.

He says she's about 16 now and was the biggest "freak in my congregation" and I don't think he meant as in being a party animal.

FOUND THIS ON ANOTHER MESSAGE BOARD-NO BARF BAG NEEDED!

My mom had a friend who's daughter got pregnant by her boyfriend. When her daughter went to the "Hall" they literally turned their backs on her. Now when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter I wasn't yet married. I went to my mom's church "Methodist" and even though I knew that being pregnant out of wedlock was not the way to go they never shunned me. The Pastor's wife gave me some of her old maternity clothes. The members came to visit me and help out as much as possible. Now I don't believe in religion cause it's man made but as Christians our job is not to shun those who do wrong or go against God's Word but to help them and be kind. Even if they don't convert. The best way to get people on God's side is by showing them the love and kindness He gives. Cause that's what God is "Love". JW's didn't even believe in Christianity now all of a sudden they do. They thought they could predict the end of the world but everytime the dates came and went, they looked stupid. They call themselves the true religion but they were started by a guy who didn't agree with what the "Luthern's" were teaching (I believe that was the religion) and decided to create his own religion. The truth? According to who? Fortunately the men I've dated who were raised JW didn't believe it and turned to Christianity. I actually studied their Bible against the universal Bible and it is so wrong. SoSo is right about the 144,000. My mother-in-law (who is one) tried to convince me that I wasn't going to heaven. So my question is if only 144,000 are going to heaven then why do all this work? What goal are you working towards? Christians do God's work cause of the promise of ever lasting life in heaven with Him. So they are just doing all this work just to die? That makes no sense. My mil also told me that speaking in tongues was the devil. Don't let them fool you. It doesn't matter if they know alot about the Bible and can quote scriptures - so can the "Devil".

Interesting point about how the DUBS actually enjoy being persecuted cause they think they are doing something right. When I read that it brought me back to that link you posted about JW in Nazi Germany. What a great article that was!

Never really thought about how succumbed to the WT most of those prisoners were. How sad! Especially since most of them were a bit loony:

One Witness was ordered to retrieve an item, and by the time he arrived back, the train had already pulled away. That speaks volumes about the kind of control the Society has on people.

YES! Dear God, there is this new brother in my hall whose also got 3 kids but hell, the brother is FINE FINE FINE!

But I've always been attracted to the very, suave, older man especially if they were married. (I guess its the thrill but then again it was more exciting when I was 17 and still a minor cause I knew I could always have the upper-hand)

He looks at me funny all the time. its obvious he's attracted to me but right now he's on his best behavior as he triest to climb the never-ending "spiritual" DUB ladder (you know the types-always taking the substitute talks at the last minute, making sure to give such 'wonderful' comments BLAH )

And his wife! Sheesh! The chick can't be that much older than me but he's gotta be well into his 30's. I bet they have awful sex, its just written all over there body language. And she's a total Stepford Wife. Stay at home, have his dinner ready when he gets home. How sad cause she's still so young.

Breakaway: Wife says i'm not allowed to cheat on her IF the girl is uglier than her. If the girl is prettier than it's ok.

Strange! I'm the complete opposite. It would piss me off if the chick my man cheated on me was prettier than me. But if she's fat and ugly than so be it! But I suppose it still would be just as insulting either way.

I can almost guarantee you that they kicked her out. Reading your post about what an emotionally dependent person she is, there's no way she would have left her comfort zone (Bethel) when her husband died. That would have been her safeguard

Based on the responses posted on here, I didn't even think that she was actually kicked out of Bethel as they say. I figured after her husband's death she just chose to leave cause of the grief of being there and being reminded of him everyday????

How awful! It makes me so angry because she really is a nice lady! . So how do they do it? Bethel I mean. They send you a letter telling you, you have 20 minutes to pack up your things???What is there explanation for doing this to an individual? And how does a person not come to the conclusion on their own that something just aint right here?

Did the WTS give her permission or kick her out?

I'm assuming they gave her the approval but I really am not sure. Would they actually do this? Just kick someone out??? I mean her hubby died for God's sake!

Can you clarify what you mean that the Society has provided an apartment for her? Did they find it? Do they charge her rent? etc...

Well I don't know exactly but my mom said she is a special pioneer, served in Bethel nearly all her life and I guess once her husband died they gave her permission to go back out in the real world. (Wonder what thats like?)

Anyway, apparently yes, the Society provided her with housing. She lived in an apartment right above a Kingdom Hall in her hometown but apparently the Hall was in some remote rural town where there was practically no civilization (which she would always joke about but you could tell she hated the idea)

just wondering about j/w weddings.. is there music?

are there any traditions used in the ceremony?

The weddings I would go to also ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS (and I do mean ALWAYS) played the stupid 'Electric Slide.' Gawd, how annoying! It was like THE song that everyone would always hop up and dance to. After so many times of hearing it I would cringe when they would start it. Usually I'd find myself on the dance floor and then as soon as it would start and everyone was jumping up to come to the dance floor I'd sit down. Man, it was so annoying. Then it turned into the 'other' electric slide...I don't know what that one's called, but where it says '...Now Slide to Left....Slide to Right...' I would just sit there in bewilderment. It's so funny now to think of it. Still have Electric Slide phobia though.

The Cha Cha Cha! Yeah! I know that song! Oh God! And they always get some old disco brother who still has 8 tracks in his car to be the DJ.

And they always like to tease the younger ones by playing Usher's "Yeah" for about 2 seconds and then stop it in the middle of the song.

"Sorry young ones, looks like you're having a little too much fun."
