I know of many, including myself, that have pursed higher ed not for money, fame, material goods but to work at an occupation that interests me, stimulates me, is challenging and emotionally rewarding that I both enjoy and that both contributes to my self esteem and contributes to the well-being of my fellow man. For me, money is neither the priority nor the goal

I agree with this also! If I was filthy rich I would still be in college. I want to major in creative writing more than anything but I know it would be more practical to probably let that be my minor.

But I definetly see college as just a wonderful way to grow up and be about something. Not just about finding a good job.

Besides Corporate America sux.

You are absolutely right! And its not like the witnesses don't admit this. During this same WT study this one "sister" made the comment that this study article was directed particulary towards servants of Jehovah (and we all know what that means) b/c those in the world are already entrapped in satan's system.

Can you believe she would say something like that? And yet I bet all the non-wittnesses in the audience would not of even catched on.

By the way; I hear so much about this book on here: George Orwell. In the allegory "Animal Farm" I must go and get it I suppose.

What a great review. The study today was a bunch of crock was it not? I liked how they put the whole secular education tidbit in from time to time. Classic exmple of Reinforcement.

One dumb and very lonely sister made the comment that even those who have the means to buy what they want does not mean they should b/c how can they relate to their brother or even householder who has nothing?

Who says I have to relate to anyone???!! Jesus was the freakin Son of God but he did not disown his family heritage so he could "relate" to the people he was preaching too.

Ridiculous! Had to get up and take a breather in the bathroom a couple times to avoid any sudden vomiting.

My mother was really mad but my dad put his foot down on this one. ("Its my house and yadi yadi ya argument which in the end I took his side just because this was one time my mother was being absurd.)

However she has been really angry at my dad all day, of course.

Everyone from the previous thread has the same mindset that this lady may be staying for a little while longer than she claims?

She has decorated the entire guest room with her dresser, nightstand, own end table and all other kinds of knick-knacks...But I really don't think my father would allow her to be here more than the time allotted.

jefftT Move her stuff around when nobody can see you. Hide her book bag when she's not looking. Do something to make sure you wake up in the middle of the night, then scream hysterically that you were attacked. After a couple of days of this announce that a demon is attached to something that she brought into the house.

Oroborus21:Is there any way that you can "demonize" her stuff. What I mean is maybe you can say that you saw her table move, or something like that.

If they are perhaps her mentality is that because she is a full time pioneer and spends her time and energy for the org rather than herself she is entitled to some help from fellow JWs. Yup. i would like to write an article outlining some of the goofy stories that jws believe.

for example, when i was young, this story went around: .

a couple decided that they would miss the meeting to go to see a hypnotist.

I remember the one about the smurf doll too! And funny thing is that story has been circulating for practically a decade or more now.

I remember one about a lady whose house was possessed by the demons and once she started studying the bible with JW's and they would come to the house all the normal pounding of footsteps and unexplainable rattling of the windows would stop for that hour. But as soon as they would leave it would presume.

That story had me not being able to sleep in my own bed for 2 weeks! My parents made me sleep on the floor of their room instead. I still had a bit of a bed wetting problem at that time.

List of family/friends lost to the Watchtower cult? (suicides)

after reading about puternuts (ari) suicide, and also reading about sabine and js losing their daughter to this cult, i think it would be a fitting memorial, so to speak, to write a list of all the people we know who died because of this cult.

i also know that cruzanheart lost her dad to it, too.

i'm sure there are many here that can make a list of suicides brought on by the shunning/threatening policies of the watchtower cult.

...so said my dear 'ol mom after her and my dad made reservations for this year's district convention and realized that another hotel on the lodging list had a cheaper rate.

she figured that calling up the previous hotel to cancel was against the society's rules counsel listed in the km about making reservations.

so she spends the next 20 minutes looking all over the house for the km to make sure there are no rules against cancelling a reservation already made with a hotel since "we don't want to bring on reproach on jehovah's name.
