How long has it been "the time of the end" ?

this question crossed my mind last night.

i wonder, people in the "dark ages", who were many times under tremendous oppression religiously, politically, monetarily, etc., did they believe they were in the the time of the end?

it was mentioned in a post above that people today, especially in the west, live much better lives than in times past.

So what is the overall theme here? That there is NO time of the end at all? So what the heck was Jesus talking about?? If we've always had exceeded amounts of crime and violence now and in the past then where and when is this time of the end??

JWs and the Judaic influence

the jws feel like a judaic religion thinly disguised as christianity, they are the organisation of jehovah and not the church of christ, everything is jehovah centred while christ the head of the church is relegated to the margins, virtually all jws refuse to participate in the christian new covenent, their mindset is very works and not grace oriented, they really too heavily on the old testament and as if all that is not bad enough they claim to be the only true christian religion and viciously denigrate christian religions as apostate christendom and babylon.

i can see there a strong jewish influence and not surprisingly since russelll and rutherford, at least early in his presidency, were closely allied with the jews and supported by them.

any comments?

Romans 10: 9,13 Whoever believes in and calls upon the Lord Jesus will be saved.

But I'm confused here. The NWT uses "Jehovah" instead of Jesus. Is that that an innacurate translation??? If so then the whole premise of using God's name is false. What does The KJV say? It does not say either name but instead uses Lord. Now I'm really confused.

Seeing the title for this thread: I thought nah, this is way off. But this statement:

What most cults and some churches, do is concentrate on the OT using its rules and regulations found in the Mosaic Law and imposing them on their followers. Forgetting that the Mosaic law was done away by Christ.

Intensely lonely

normally i am fine but a glass and a half of wine and my heart is breaking.

the irony of it is is that i was as lonely as this in the congregation.. i feel overwhelmed with life and never seem to get anywhere or get anything done.

DATING 101: Dating Interacially and my opposite: Will it Work Out?

so me and the guy i've been dating finally became offical since last night and its the first time in almost a year since i have been in a relationship.

and for once, i think i may have a winner.

but he is white...and 32...and plays the african drums..and teaches some weird dance in a school for kids having to do with cuban tribal dances..or something or other.

However the scene where Bernie Mac badgers Ashton Kutcher into telling black jokes has to be a cultural milestone. The laughed at alot of them, but then he went just a little to far. The cultural divide reared up with a vengeance. We've come so far, but so far to go.

You always give great advice LDH! In fact, I hate the fact that my whole life I have been sheltered and taken care of by my parents so much just simply because it seems as if I was to be thrust into the real world I would be shaking in my boots. I envy those who have actually had to survive on their own. Not that I am saying I have never had problems in my life that I have not had to deal with. Because we all got problems, wether one sees them as big or small. Its just at times I feel if I'll ever be ready to be out in the real world when that day arises for me to make that move.

True. By the way, you said your parents married interacially? Are you a product of one of those "really good looking" mixed kids? Loruhamah what an interesting story! I hope many on here don't think I am making the race thing an issue because I am honestly not. Really, our cultural differences as far as how we grew up and whatnot seem to bother me more. At the same time, I don't want to ignore the race issue because it is there.

Your thoughts (HappyOut and CYP) are well appreciated. Of course, I can see from both your expiriences that there can be clear distinctions between black and white period. But CYP does bring a good point out about how most blacks who are JW's aren't really all that black. I'm pretty culural but I'm not "the white man is trying to bring us down and the relvolution will be televised" type of sista.

Yeah, his family is wayyy hippie and he says the only person who would have a problem with me being black is his grandma but he said "don't worry, everyone will probably just tell her to shut the f**** up anyway."

Was Jesus sacrifice really a sacrifice?

i would like to state firstly that i in no way intend to offend anyone.. its just when i was in the org i had major problems with the blood issue/death because of persecution.

many times we were taught that god does`nt ask us to do anything that he has`nt done himself.

now imagine everything the bible says about jesus really did happen.

i found this web site while researching jws (my immediate family on my dad's side is jw, except for my dad, who was subjected to the programming from birth, and who seems to be caught in some strange world between the jw world and the real one).. for the most part, these are decent, kind, loving people.

the only problem is that they are jws!.

i myself am atheist, so in theory i should them to be atheist also, but i'd gladly settle for steering them into a different form of christianity.. anything but jw.

I mean ya got me StilA, who practically lives in stores like neiman marcus and macy's, doesn't do dishes and is still trying to find her place outside the JW world whose fallen head over heels for this earthy, bohemian, long-bearded (think Jesus) sandal-wearing, "I don't believe in processed foods" Liberalist who doesn't even own a cellphone. But I'm happy and that's all that should matter. Anyone else ever been in an interracial relationship or just with someone who was completely different from you or probably the rest of the world? Did it work out? Do opposites really attract in your opionion? I am terrified that our differences will eventually drive us apart.
