thanx to everyone who helped out (even to those who were a bit critical to my post ) Here I am on campus with 2 term papers due, a whole bunch of studying to complete and I'll be writing out this talk in between classes. I woke up this morning laughing to myself thinking : "I can't believe I went on an x-jw site to ask help for a talk??!! Quite funny I know!
And no fair Richie! All you have to do is stand up on stage and read a bunch of verses! Oh yeah, the brothers got it real hard.

at the service meeting tonight we went over this week's scheduled bible reading at 1) chronicles 10-12. the brother explaining the bible reading explained the example for young people:.
" what can we learn this week young people from rehoboam's example?
that when you have problems as much as you may be inclined to seek the advice of your fellow peers you should seek out the "older men" in the congregation for help.

i grew up jw and like many of you spent countless hours in boring meetings and long assemblies that seemed to go on forever.
as a little kid i developed a talent for sitting at the meeting or assembly and looking as though i were paying attention but honestly i wasn't even in the room.
i perfected this over a number of years and now find that as a non-jw adult it's really a problem.
perhaps you just have ADD. They have it on adults too.
A nice handful of colorful pills should clear that right up!!

The elders are here to guide you in the right direction. And of course your parents can help also.
So parents are listed second?? I'm not a mom but I know that when I become one I would want my child to come to me before going to someone else no matter who they are. And of course there is no mention of going to God himself.
"We also urge you young people to pusue spiritual goals like pioneering while still in high school." Did I hear that correctly? What ever happend to 'during summer vacations?' and 'once you graduate?'
We also have a new assembly hall being built in Georgia. The accounts report was also being announced and it was said that 5 million dollars has already been donated towards the new assembly since Novermber. 5 million?? Where does that money come from??? That can't all be from people dropping just dropping in a couple dollars in the contributution boxes can it??
i have always felt that requiring sisters to wear headcoverings was assinine.
jehovah won't strike you down for not wearing a headcovering".
word gets back to the co on his next visit that i don't let sisters wear headcoverings at the bookstudy when they read and he reams me out for it.

I've been meaning to write you earlier but my english teacher stood on her tippy toes and barked to the class: "Hey! Who's typing??!!" Anyways, I enjoyed your thoughts very much so though I never really thought twice about the head covering rule I did always feel like the scripture they used to support it was pretty weak.
At 22 I still battle with the notion of the role men play in my life. I used to always think that a good boyfriend had to be in control, had to somewhat tell me what to do and be in charge of all decisions. To me a man was not a man unless he was in control. I did not understand where that was coming from for a long time. Even after being in an abusive realtionship for a year and a half, once I was ready to start dating again I was still looking for the "thug" in a man.
The it just hit me one day in psych class when my professor was talking about the role religion plays in our life. DUH! For so long I was looking at my family life (but my father has always been a great man so that made it even more confusing) then I figured it was just me looking for the "bad boy") But now I understand it completely.
Being a JW-the mental state it puts you in...I wonder if it will last a lifetime. I am much more stubborn now. I've been told I'm a bit of a firecracker. My boyfriend always jokes that the most he's ever seen me submit is when we're in bed.
I hope I did not ramble. I was just very intrigued by your stroy and am glad that you were able to appreciate the "weaker vessels"

Sometimes its what keeps me up at night.
my spouses grandfather is in the hospital and only has a couple days left to live.
last night we were there and my in-laws decided this would be a good time to preach to the their fleshly relatives, as they are the only ones in the family that are witnesses.
my father-in-law has not been active in the witnesses, just attends meetings, so his ability to explain their faith is a little on the weak side.
I think I will always let my mother think I still believe. I think it would hurt her if she didn't. Is that selfish?
this weekend mozz and i went out of town to visit some of his family.
this morning on our way back home, we decided to meet some of them at a little truck stop restaurant to have breakfast.
we got there and noticed this little dog outside of the front door.
What a cutie! I've always wanted a pet dear old mother says it will take away time from "spirtual things"
As soon as I move out I want a whole zoo!
