i always thought that it was on a par with the usual extreme US religions, such as Mormons, 7DA's adn the like. I hated the American-centric literature we got too, not that i have anything against regular 'septics, but I like my English thus, English!

Is The Watchtower Organization Thought Of As An American Religion?
by Outaservice inwhile we all know that the jehovah's witnesses are found throughout the world, someone once told me that in other countries the governing body does not carry the weight that they do in the united states.. do you living in germany, france, uk, australia, etc.
feel that was the case?
to me, it seemed that such persons as the australians were such a 'gutsy' independent, wild west sort of culture that would question authority more so than say a u.s. witness.. is this primarily thought of as an american religion by others?.

I used to go to my mates house after school, and listen to the Beastie Boys when they came out! They rocked! My dad had some crazy stuff in his collection, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Ozark Mountain Daredevils.. We used to have the group at our house on a Tuesday night, some nosy buggers would always comment about our record collection, we evven had, shcok horror, Thriller!!!!

exactly the same crap was told to us as kids too!, although it was Knights in Satans Service, oh how we laughed and went home and rocked to Detroit Rock City anyway! Luckily my mom and dad had good taste in music and encouraged us to listen to the music! I thank them at least for that, oh and Carol King and James Taylor.... my musical keystones!
I remember also some whacko sisters complaining to my mum about me dressing like Phil Oakey from human League for a brief period! "Its just a phase sister" wait till he starts listening to The Cure! -

Is Katrina just a precursor of things to come?
by zagor inif damage from one storm is going to cost, as they say, over a hundred billon dollars what would happen if we have another storm like that one, and another, and another, and another....
i mean prices of fuel have jumped to record high all over the world as result of one storm, how bad can it get really?
just this simple analysis would tell me that in a year or two of such hammering economy of the entire world could collapse.

The earth has been around for a damn sight longer than we have and will out last us all, Mother Nature always finds a way, as Dr. Ian Malcolm mused in Jurassic Park :) -

Welcome andrea. Your story is so familiar yet personal, everyone on here has the same stories to tell. Your amongst real friends now who won't judge you because of your wardrobe, or magazine placements. Good luck in your endeavours, trust yourself to make your descisions, because you ultimately live the consequences, no one else.
Peace

I wish i was a lawyer!
Are people really this stupid? and we think we are the most intelligent species!
The Winnebago one though, isn't that an urban legend, i'm sure i read that a few years ago, but the owner was a man. although i have come across people like this, who shouldn;t be allowed behind the wheel of a toddlers push car, let alone a 5 ton small bus! In my job as a Smash Repairer we see on a daily basis, people attempts at exiting the gene pool! -

IMHO, get out and stay out. Why put yourself throught the mill for what amounts to a Rich mans Publishing Club! Its hard to focus now on whats right becuase your still in it, but leave, you will thank yourself in 10 years time when you have kids of your own and they lead a normal life, untainted by the foul teachings of the Dubz. Think of it that way and have faith in your own abilities.
