a friend of mine told me 2 jws came to her home the other day.
they started preaching to her and she said "i am a christian and i read the bible".
they said "that's great because that's what were doing is teaching from the bible".
They are waving hello and we are waving goodbye..
for those of you who still pray, regularly or not.
i would ask some advice.. as a dub when i would pray at meetings or for my family i had no problem finding many things to discuss with god.
you know the usual things like my family, kh, gb, meetings, personal study, the friends around the world being persecuted, new system, meeting attendance again, field service, etc.. now that i'm fading i will not pray about the majority of those things any longer.
I thank God for sending His son down to purchase us from the death we inherited from Adam thus becoming the life giving spirit the last Adam. I also thank Him that He even considers listing to us and that we have His son as our high priest now that we can approach Him through. I thank Him for allowing us to get the sense of His written word and for helping us make application of the things necessary to maintain our conduct fine as Christians should.
I always ask for His protection and guidance and further protection against the wicked spirit forces. The scriptures said we would have a wrestling against the wicked spirit forces whether we realize it or not. I further thank Him for the food clothing and shelter that we enjoy I our day to day life.
If my family members were still members of the sect I would quote scriptures in my prayers for their benefit. Scriptures that identify Christ as King in the first century and the fact that He did not wait until 1914 to receive His authority. Also other scriptures that help in realizing that individual today should only be identified as Christians and not use the name Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Yes, it certainly seems so. But so what? since " those in search of truth" can pretty much uncover and conclude that the Bible writers themselves stole from many "pagan" sources and myth. For a Christian to make such accusations of the Witnesses, is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. It can be wise to place our own cherished beliefs under the spot light.
I do not believe that I asked a question!
.
when jesus was talking to the samaritan woman by the well did he imply that buildings (like the temple) would have to be built & dedicated to god for a person to be able to worship god?
can modern day kingdom halls really be considered a place of true worship?
1st Thessalonians 4th chapter
9
However, with reference to brotherly love, YOU do not need us to be writing YOU, for YOU yourselves are taught by God to love one another; 10 and, in fact, YOU are doing it to all the brothers in all of Mac·e·do´ni·a. But we exhort YOU, brothers, to go on doing it in fuller measure, 11 and to make it YOUR aim to live quietly and to mind YOUR own business and work with YOUR hands, just as we ordered YOU; 12 so that YOU may be walking decently as regards people outside and not be needing anything.Paul did not say that they had better get out and share their beliefs with their neighbors!

A Search for Truth
C. T. Russell was born in the United States, in Allegheny (now part of Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania, on February 16, 1852. He was the second son of Joseph L. and Ann Eliza (Birney) Russell, who were Presbyterians of Scottish-Irish descent. Charles’ mother died when he was only nine years old, but from an early age, Charles was influenced by both of his religiously-minded parents. As a later associate of C. T. Russell put it, "they trained the small twig; and it grew in the direction of the Lord." Although brought up as a Presbyterian, Charles eventually joined the Congregational Church because he preferred its views.
Young Charles was evidently quite a businessman. At just 11 years of age, he became a partner with his father in a thriving men’s clothing store. Charles enlarged the business, eventually operating a number of different stores himself. Although things went well for him in business, spiritually he was very troubled. Why was this?
Charles’ parents sincerely believed the creeds of Christendom’s churches and brought him up to accept them too. Young Charles was thus taught that God is love, yet that he had created men inherently immortal and had provided a fiery place in which he would eternally torment all except those who had been predestined to be saved. Such an idea repulsed the honest heart of teenage Charles. He reasoned: "A God that would use his power to create human beings whom he foreknew and predestinated should be eternally tormented, could be neither wise, just nor loving. His standard would be lower than that of many men."
But young Russell was no atheist; he simply could not accept the commonly understood teachings of the churches. He explained: "Gradually I was led to see that though each of the creeds contained some elements of truth, they were, on the whole, misleading and contradictory of God’s Word." Indeed, in the creeds of the churches, "elements of truth" were buried under a morass of pagan teachings that had infiltrated tainted Christianity during the centuries-long apostasy. Turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, Russell examined some leading Oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying.
Is this not were the WTBTS sect is today! Their "doctrines of men", rules and writings that go beyond the scriptures.
what have you done with your wts book collection?
have you sold them, burnt them, given them away or kept them as a memento?
the only one i kept was aid to bible understanding, which i still find helpful, even though there are errors, eg 607bc lol .
I kept some of the older stuff. I was reading the first Kingdom Come book. Its cover is really weird. I let my cousin barrow it and he took it the kingdom hall and put into their library. I told him to get and give it back. My father had all the old brochures and a lot of them all stacked in my brother’s garage.
not all that post here threw the bible and the bible god out the window when they exited the dubs, but many have.. for me personally, i never doubted god or the bibles authenticity untill years later when i began doing a re-search on the bible canon and how it was formed.
from there, i began looking at the sceptics view of the bible and it's god which then changed my views.. i guess my question is, why did you ( those who disbelieved god/bible upon exiting the dubs)... throw god and the bible out the window before you had re-searched it enough to make you believe contrary?
if all you really knew was that the wtbts was bunk, what made you feel the bible and it's god was bunk too?.
The Watchtower Company does not advocate true Christianity. I left for that reason. Their teachings take away from Jesus Christ. I am a Christian now..
.
an interesting expose on the bestseller, and oprah book club pick:

He must be one of the writers for the WTBTS.
