Joke from Patterson elders' school
by sir82 inour po recently returned from his indoctrination training session at patterson.. he's been pretty tight-lipped about the experience, following orders from above.
but he did repeat one joke he said one of the instructors made (keep in mind that all those in attendance were pos).. what is the difference between jesus christ and a po?.
jesus knows he isn't god!.

What is the difference between Satan & a P.O. ?
You can tell the P.O. is lying because you can see his lips moving.

Placements and Ministry Hours vs. Conversions
by megs ini am so irritated.
the pioneer who was giving me bible study mailed me the public version of watchtower and awake!
(i'm not doing the bs anymore) this got me thinking... why is more emphasis placed on hours in the ministry and "product placement" than conversion??

Matthew 24:14 fulfilled
by Newborn inyou've probably discussed this a lot already but i started to have serious doubts when they announced that matt 24:14 was fulfilled.
even though in 3 countries, i think, (like afghanistan..) it had not been preached in at all and billions of people elsewhere will never hear about jehovah.
again the answer is probably that jehovah will make the final judgment and he is all justice etc.

What the WTBTS sells has nothing to do with Matt 24:14.

I helped out a poorer family while I was still is the cult/sect. One of their sons started coming by my house to continue taking from me.
He married a "sister" from the kingdumb hall who had two children from a previous marriage.
He was unhappy about the fact that his new wife had been fixed & could not have any children for him. So he started cheating on her & would drop by my house unannounced with one of his lovers.
He would drink up all of my booze and ask for money.
One night he came by late, my wife & I had already gone to bed. I went to the door & he was standing there drunk & asking for more booze he also asked where I kept my gun.
This story goes on & on but anyway I called his mother & said if her son came to my house ever again I would shoot him & call the cops.
He has not been back since.

Re: Jehovah's Witnesses ? Post 566 of 568
since 10-Jan-08Dear Rooster, it seems that the earliest Christians, the disciples of Jesus, were expecting his imminent and immediate return in glory. This idea is very clear when you read the Christian ["New Testament"] scriptures.
Unfortunately, throughout history, people living in every historical era, have considered the New Testament as a sort of prophetic "message" written to them and for their benefit. This is simply not the case. Whoever wrote the scriptures were not crystal-ball gazers peering into the future. They were writers who were addressing local ["local" in both its temporal and geographic senses] needs and concerns. Their message was a specific one, addressed to a specific group of people.
I suppose that it only normal that each successive generation has "peered into" the scriptures as if they were some sort of mirror reflecting on the times. But this is an erroneous conception. The Bible contains absolutely not one iota of "prophecy" that we people living in the twenty-first century can use or benefit.
As for the so-called "1914 doctrine" preached by the Witnesses, it is total tripe and utter bilge. The 1914 doctrine is based on their "year 607 B.C.E." theory which is, itself, erroneous.
Very good point...
Thank you,
Rooster
