  Feeling A Bit Down Today

  hey y'all, .

  i'm not sure about you, but i occasionally get those days where i feel a bit down, as if i have no friends.

  i do have a number of great friends, though, and am very thankful for them.. i think it might have to do with the residual programming of having a "worldwide brotherhood".

  Yes, I remember that feeling. I have been out for 15 years and it still hits me sometimes. It helps me to remind myself that those connections may have felt real, but they were not. They were conditional and fleeting. It is a worldwide brotherhood that anyone can join, and the only cost is your conscience and mental freedom. It wasn't worth it. Enjoy your freedom and remember there are real connections to make with people in the world that are more meaningful than the ones the JWs suggest they ever have.

  The people are mobilizing Mr Drumpf

  protesters shut down a trump rally.

  massive numbers of people are out in chicago and have shut his event down.

  there were scuffles inside the event.. despite his lame attempt to pretend the violence he instigates is nothing to do with him it's clear that it is as the cnn quotes during the last event showed only too well.. this doesn't happen at anyone else's events - candidates have even given up the stage to protesters, not called for them to be beaten and punched.. trump is an ugly person and this is just a small taste of what a future under his rule would be like.. shame on the gop for not kicking his ass out.

  I was wondering, are Canadian and British politics as entertaining as those in the US. If so, can you can direct me to some sites?

  Nothing is more entertaining than the saga of Toronto mayor Rob Ford. We have our messes in the US, but Canada can definitely keep that train wreck of a politician.

  There have been some pretty "odd communities" here in the States, so that is really saying something!

  DO BIRDS-OF-A-FEATHER really "Flock together"?

  my grandfather insisted "birds of a feather flock together" and thought it was some kind of genius rule-of-thumb for understanding life.then i began noticing at school, at parties, in neighborhoods, people who looked the same hung out together and excluded others.then, i became a jw.

  they only hang out with jw's.

  the world was further divided into sheep and goats.

  This problem is compounded by the fact that JWs promote such black and white thinking. This is especially well ingrained if you were raised in the org. Even with the best of intentions after leaving, it is hard to get rid of. It may have some to do with evolutionary make-up, but I believe most of it is a learned behavior, as least when it comes to categorizing and judging people.

  On another point with this issue ... when you are a JW witness, you are forced to fly with the flock and no one else. If you live in an isolated area or go to a small congregation, all of those other factors you mentioned that are normally cohesive or divisive in the world do not matter. If you are a preteen in a congregation with only one other preteen, you better like them because they are all you've got as a friend. You could have absolutely nothing in common with this person, but you are forced to be their friend because you are forbidden to associate with any of the other "flocks" of the world.

  The money has run out. And with so many uneducated, poor members, the society will never be able to obtain and upkeep the number of properties they were once accustomed to. Encouraging your members to stay poor and dumb is never a smart business move.
