by atomant infor some reason this subject has not received much attention over the years which surprises me.theres many conspiracy theories floating around on the internet and lve done my fair share of due diligence on the matter.the school is still out on this one.l find it very hard to believe humans are the only intelligent beings out there.has anyone on this forum ever seen a ufo or experienced a close encounter?

The longer I am away, the stranger they seem when I watch this kind of stuff!
Here is the run down of basically all of the "reenactments":
Missionary: Hello, I have this very interesting tract about "How do you view the bible?" that I would like you to read.
Stranger: Okay. I will.
Speaker from Stage: Wasn't that a fine example of our Missionaries dedicating their lives to Jehovah?
Audience: CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

Star Trek: TSG - Careful what you watch
by Coded Logic indear brothers and sisters,.
it has come to our attention that many of you enjoy watching star trek.
while there is nothing wrong with a modest amount of entertainment in our lives we need to make sure the shows we are bringing into our households meet god's standards.

Haha! Thanks, blondie! That was hilarious! I can't believe they actually wrote and published that!
Interestingly, many have noted parallels in the story to that of the life of Jesus Christ.
Yes, I am sure that is exactly what Steven Spielberg, a Jew, intended! Haha!

The Invitations to the Kingdom Hall is Starting Up Again
by Wild_Thing inafter 15 years, i thought my mom finally accepted that i am never coming back to the kingdom hall for any reason.
well ... i guess not.. this weekend, my nieces are staying with her because my jw sister (who is not speaking to me) is out of town.
she invited me to go to lunch on sunday.

Well ... there is no way I am going. I haven't stepped one foot in a Kingdom Hall in 15 years, and I'm not starting now.
And tiki .... it is absolutely NOT the same as if she were Catholic. And to be honest ... I don't even want to eat lunch with any of the JWs from her Kingdom Hall.
Every time any of them start going on and on about how they want me to come to the KH, that they miss me and would love to see, blah, blah, blah, I offer to meet them somewhere for lunch, coffee, whatever ... this gives them an opportunity to show their true colors and true motive. The minute they actually take me up on the offer, I will know things are starting to change inside the org. And it is never going to happen.

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse ini have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".
the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".
this is huge.

Is it a new thing that there is no mention of blood fractions, or was that taken off a while back? When I was in, there was section on the card about blood fractions and you marked which ones you were willing to accept. It does't look like it's even addressed on the card now. It looks like the card is just saying no blood in any shape or form.
I know it says "no major components" but without any further detail, it puts your decision about fractions in a pretty grey area. Without it being spelled out, what prevents your family from stopping doctors from even administering blood fractions or drugs made from blood fractions?

After 15 years, I thought my mom finally accepted that I am never coming back to the Kingdom Hall for any reason. Well ... I guess not.
This weekend, my nieces are staying with her because my JW sister (who is not speaking to me) is out of town. She invited me to go to lunch on Sunday. I said "sure"! She said, "Why don't you just come to the Kingdom Hall with us and we can go to lunch afterwards. You will see so and so there."
I am sure this sounds familiar with most of you.
I said, "Just let me know where you guys want to eat and I'll meet you there after your meeting."
She persisted, " I really wish you would go. I would love for you to meet some of my friends there, and it won't give me any false hope that you're coming back. You've told me before that's why you didn't want to ever come, and I have accepted that, so don't worry about that."
I said, "As I've said before, there are a million places in the world that I can also meet them besides the Kingdom Hall. Why don't you invite them to lunch with us!"
"Well, they would more likely come if you came to the meeting," she said.
"Yeah, I know that's how it works there and that's sad."
She finally dropped it, but sheesh! It sure doesn't sound like she's given up all hope!

So how do we start a Scholorship for JW and EXJW Students?
by Luther bertrand init is my contention that jw children are intellectually abused by being brainwashed to not have the choice of pursuing higher education.
so, how do we help these victims?
would a jw/exjw offer some help?

I would love to see this happen! I don't see how this can happen realistically. Most JWs and exJWs are not exactly wealthy, and many even lean toward poverty's edge.
It has always been a dream of mine to win it big and hit the lottery jackpot so I could set up a recurring full ride scholarship for ex-JWs and one for current JWs. I realize its just a dream, but its one I still hold on to.
Tight Pants Tony is correct about one thing, Pursuing higher education will make you want to leave the org. It's amazing what a little education can do! Like the public service commercial says ... the more you know!

It was a generic, "nice", inoffensive letter. I think I will write back, just a brief note. If you had one item to share with a person...what point would you like to make?
Well, first I wouldn't bother. It don't think it would be effective, but when I have forced to talk about the reasons why I left, I stick with sociological factors that are a problem in the organization and not doctrine.
You will not win on any doctrine issue, but my family has had a hard time arguing against the failure of the organization to deal with any kind of abuse within families among the ranks, their inability to deal with mental health care issues, and discouraging their members to seek help, and one thing that really hits home with my family is the seemingly slanted "class system" among the JWs where you are nobody unless you are connected ... usually married ... to a man with some type of position of power.
And when they come back with their canned response of ... "well, we have to remember that they are imperfect men" ... I say, "Exactly ... just like every other religion on the planet." They don't like it when I say that.

I love going to parties where people pass around snacks and alcohol without consuming any of it!
... said no one ever.
