No way, man. That's bad Karma. That's how the holocaust happened.

some of my family i would take out bill boards pointing to them.
many of the elders it would be he is over there and set off a neon sign.

Re: the woman parking attendants and real life
by carla inwith much amusement i read the thread on women parking lot attendants and it got me to thinking about life at home for the average jw.. i believe i am correct in thinking that anything to do with jw-ism requires a penis, except all the leg work (fs & pioneers).
meaning the mic's, talks, etc... but yet the same guy who thinks his wife (or any other woman) is not bright enough to run the sound system for example doesn't mind his wife hauling hay, digging in the yard, managing the checkbook and other various physical jobs as well as jobs that do in fact require a brain larger than that of a gnat?.
let's say a guy is a bit technologically challenged but he can manage the sound system at the kh ok. i imagine he feels proud that he is getting to do this great privilege?

@Wild_Thing: "So, the PO's wife went to garage sales and bought a bought of silky scarves to keep at the KH."
But what about demons?!Damn! That might explain the smurf walking into the Kingdom Hall!

There is far too many non-penis-equipped people expressing opinions here on this thread!
It must stop now! Or Jehovah will get very upset you know! !Sorry! I'll pass out the napkins.

Anyone pissed at their parents for raising you in the cult?
by blownaway inmy mother was not the most emotionally stable person.
she was a follower and instilled in me the idea we were better than those worldly people.
its hard to go to school as a child and you can not be friends outside of school, you can not celebrate any holidays, and you are told all these people are going to die.

At times, yes, but most of the time, no. First, blame lies squarely on my grandmother's shoulders. She was the one that converted back in the 50s and got this whole generational mess started. She was poor, uneducated, and a very suppressed female, so I view her as a victim, too. I view my still-in-mother a victim, too, for the same reasons.
At some point you have to stop being a victim, but you have to have self-realization that you are a victim, first. And therein, lies the conundrum. You had that self realization. Your parents have not. It is painful to watch them continue to be a victim, and it is hard not to be resentful at their continued stupidity.

Yeah, they did it for years with the fast food napkins. Then, a circuit overseer came for their visit and found out about it, and told them it was disrespectful and they needed better head coverings. So, the PO's wife went to garage sales and bought a bought of silky scarves to keep at the KH. The lowly women were safe from Jehovah's wrath, once again! Phew! It was a close one! Thankfully, Armageddon did not come during the "paper napkin years". Those things are quite flammable!

Satan temping Eve. Had she not ate
by pleaseresearch inbeing the loving god that he is :).
how do you imagine this playing out.
let's say eve didn't eat and so we didn't fall into sin.. what do you think god would have done with satan and his demons?.

The saddest thing about the Adam and Eve story is that it was known to be a myth for centuries, but at some point, religious leaders decided the myth should be read as a literal story that actually happened, and left out other parts of the original mythic story.
The real question should be ... what would have happened if religious leaders from the past never took the story as actual fact, and accepted it as a myth?
Here is some light reading. I found this article from last year really interesting: https://www.newstatesman.com/culture/books/2017/09/rise-and-fall-adam-and-eve-exploring-myth-original-sinners

Oh, I remember when I was a child, women would regularly conduct field service and say prayer for the weekday service group. It was always the Presiding Overseer's wife. But she had to sit to do it, to show her lowly stature, because you know, standing is a privilege from Jehovah.
And if there was a young baptized male present, she had to wear a napkin on her head because ... napkins honor God.
He preferred Dairy Queen.

Youtube videos doing the JW rounds. Gods name
by pleaseresearch inso here in the uk this video is getting jws very excited.
now my mum actualy said it wa funny to hear jw music at the start and finish.
so i'm wondering if the watchtower had any input into this.

It has always struck me as ironic that JWs are so haughty about insisting that God's name has been removed from the Bible (i.e. "YHWH appears in the Bible 6,000 times", etc.), yet they have no problem taking such liberties with biblical translations elsewhere in the NWT.

Nothing in life is stable as a Jehovah's Witness...
by silentbuddha inat least in hindsight it would appear so.
i remember as a small kid not making friends because ultimately they were going to die.
i never saved anything because money would be useless in the new world.

And yet, at the time, it all seemed so normal. The longer you are away from it all, the crazier it all seems. Like an f'ed up movie you were once a part of. Some of it seems so surreal.
I can't believe we use to talk about Armageddon coming so much. I can't believe we used Armageddon as an excuse to not have any life goals outside the Watchtower.

The 'IN' families
by punkofnice inone thing i don't miss about being a jobo, is those families that ruled the congregations.. i've seen how the elders protected their own using our old friend, nepotism.. eg.
the son of an elder that stole a car and was prosecuted but 'let off' because it was kept secret and all his relatives were elders in the same congregation.
it certainly went on when i was an elder but i wasn't one of the 'in' crowd.

There were so many big dynasty JW families related to each other, I am convinced there had to be inbreeding in the congregation I grew up in.
