Is this possible?
by WasOnceBlind infirst of all my parents don't know that i no longer consider my self a jw of believe in the stuff they say (after 10+ years of dissociation it shouldn't be rocket science) and there is no way my dad would ever listen to me if i were to talk to him about tatt and all the contradictions and false prophecies.
however, he is always reading, and he spends a lot of time in the computer using the wt library (the cd one).
i was wondering, if there would be a way to maybe "hack" the program, maybe replace some wt books with copies of something like crisis of conscience.

Other Religious Groups Critical of Higher Education
by Wild_Thing ini was reading an essay online about how witnesses are critical of higher education and discourage it.
the editor's note said there are other conservative religious groups that hold the same view towards education.. there are?
do any of you know of any religious group that works as hard as the jws at keeping their members stupid?.

Thanks for your thoughts. I forgot about the Amish, and I am surprised there are even any Pentecostal groups against education! I wonder if they are against it for everybody or just women?
Here is the link to the article about JWs and education: http://www.religioustolerance.org/anon03.htm It's an old article and does not offer any new information on the topic, but the "Webmaster's Note" caught my eye. It made me wonder if the webmaster was a JW!
Webmaster's note:
This essay is critical of the Watchtower Society's policy towards higher education among its membership. This policy is seen in other conservative Protestant faith groups as well. -

I really am curious.

Pop Trivia
by Simon inso many serious topics lately ... so for anyone who wants a break, it's trivia time and the subject is pop music.. which act is the only one to have a top 100 hit both before, during and after the beatles had theirs?.
no googling.
if you guess, you also need to add a trivia question for others to answer..

Has to be a Motown group. Can't remember the name (since I'm not allowed to google..lol) but it's something like expectations or something like that.
Nope! Not a group. Both were solo artists.

Disfellowshipping Spree In My Congregation
by jw07 ini just was looking back at a group photo on social media from exactly one year ago.. there are 12 persons in it, and since last year 3 of those persons in that photo have been disfellowshipped, plus one more not in the photo.
so that's a total of 4 persons from my congregation of a little over 100 publishers.. unfortunately 3 are back at the meetings and taking the shunning, but one seems to be fully awake and has disappeared completely.. that's the most persons i recall being disfellowshipped in my congregation in such a short while.
usually it's like 1 every 2 or 3 years.. i wouldn't mind seeing more people leaving.. there are currently 3 persons who i wonder about.

I wouldn't wish being disfellowshipped on anybody. I'm glad they are out, though. I hope they stay away. -

There have been only about a dozen artists who have had posthumous UK number 1 hits. But one of those hits actually knocked another posthumous hit off the top spot - name either artist.
l'm afraid to guess since I live in the US, but here is a question about a US artist along the same lines.
One artist, the child of a another famous artist, remade their father's top hit song after his death, editing and remixing the original song to create a duet with both of them singing. The rearranged song won 3 Grammy Awards, including Best Song of the Year. Name both artists.

The JWs have totally ruined the Happy song for me. I can only see it as a brainwashing song now. And I can never get the image of those YouTube videos out of my head of JWs dancing around the Kingdom Hall or Bethelites making this horrible video dancing to it. <shudder> You just can't un-see that shit.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christians. It's impossible.
by DATA-DOG ingood morning.
i was just checking out the forum and something occured to me.
jws simply cannot be christians.

I think the term "Christian" is so ambiguous that really anybody can claim to be a Christian and it will mean something completely different from another person of another religion claiming to be a Christian.
Also, it is a little like claiming to be the one and only "true" religion. Many religions make this claim, and they all look at each other and say "No, you're not. We are." They do the same with the claim of the being Christian. They all look at each other and say, "We're the REAL Christians!"
Personally, I think they're all full of shit.
