The One Towel Rule pushed me over the edge.
Rubadub ... I have heard that the new direction from the slave is for you to bring your own towel now. You can stick it in your lunch kit that must be small enough to fit under your seat.
which ones make you the maddest?
covering up of abuse, shunning, failed end of world predictions?.
my list is long and heavy, but the top 3 that set me off the most are:.

I agree with all of the above, but regarding the blood issue, I'm surprised the Bethel headquarters haven't been attacked like some kind of terrorist action. Thousands of thousand thought they were doing the right thing by refusing blood, but now they can take blood fractions? Makes my blood boil every time I think of it .
And just think how many people died unnecessarily during the years when the JWs banned vaccinations and organ transplants, too. And now they are all allowed! I am really surprised that more attention hasn't been given by the media to the large number of people that the JWs have allowed to die with their ever changing medical bans. They certainly gave attention to the Scientologists for not allowing their members to be on antidepressants. At least they got to live ... unhappily ... but they got to live!

1. Objection to Higher Education
2. Shunning Policy
3. Blood Transfusion Policy (and allowing people to die)
I couldn't give a rip about their biblical doctrine. Some of their biblical doctrine is just as crazy as some of the main stream religions. It is their policies against human rights that cause the most damage, in my opinion. I truly feel like they are human rights violators.
Which JW issues upset you the most?
our last conversation was him yelling at me because i "loved the gays".
translation, i pointed out that nobody chooses their sexuality.
i've been shunned since daing last september, and really for a year or so after visiting my df'ed brother.
It is on and off ... constantly! I don't think they can do it consistently because it goes against the fabric of our humanity. I see JWs struggle all the time with shunning family and friends they really don't want to shun, and instead of taking responsibility for their own behavior, they blame the person being shunned. I think they just tell themselves that to salve their conscious about doing something they know is not right (shunning).
I am very sorry for losing your father, but I am glad you got to see him before he passed.
when i was a kid back in the early 80s, they had a special part at the kingdom hall one night.
i am pretty sure it was the circuit overseer's visit and they were having special parts on youth.
they called all the little kids less than 10 years old up on the stage.

They called all the little kids less than 10 years old up on the stage. I don't remember the entire bit ... I think we were up there for a while sitting on the stage, and at one point they asked us all what we wanted to be when we grew up.
And of course, all of the kids gave the canned answers you would expect.
"I want to be a pioneer!"
"I want to be missionary!"
"I want to be an elder!"
I think I said I wanted to be a bethelite. <shudder>
There was this one little kid whose family was on the fringes of our JW society. He came from a family of a lot of teenage girls who kept getting disfellowshipped for having babies out of wedlock, and they were all sort of on again, off again witnesses. I am pretty sure his mom was currently disfellowshipped. He was about 4 years old.
After going through all of the typical canned answers all of us kids gave, he put the microphone in front of this little boy who attended so rarely, he didn't know us from Adam. When they asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, he said in a quiet little voice, "I want to be a Jehovah's Witness."
There was dead silence in the hall and then several murmurs of "Awwwwww!"
At the time, I thought to myself, "What kind of answer is that???" Now it kind of just makes me sick to my stomach. I hope that kid went to college and became a huge success in life! But chances are he is probably just another disfellowshipped Jehovah's Witness.
i hope slim hasn't left the forum, ( again) but i noticed his last post was post 10,ooo which is quite an achievement and a great statistic to say " au revoir" on.
( yes i studied compulsory french at school, but " au revoir" is all i can remember so i may as well use it) .
anyway now for the " slimboyfat" challenge, can anybody here name past or present posters that have made over 10,000 posts?
It has taken me over 14 years just to get over 1,000!
don't get here much anymore.
my mom, if you remember, really wanted to see her granddaughter before she died.

Does anyone else have a hard time carrying on a conversation with someone named "poopie"?
I don't mean to judge, but was your first choice for a username already taken, or what?

Edited to erase my comment.
for some reason this subject has not received much attention over the years which surprises me.theres many conspiracy theories floating around on the internet and lve done my fair share of due diligence on the matter.the school is still out on this one.l find it very hard to believe humans are the only intelligent beings out there.has anyone on this forum ever seen a ufo or experienced a close encounter?
Yes, but I think it was just a demon.
