Huh! So a birthday celebration is "Giving undue honor to creatures" but a big 50th anniversary gala is not? What strange logic!

Embarrassing things that happened to you on the platform?

i tripped getting up on the platform and took the mic stand with me.

That's funny, Jordan! Did your mum get a judicial meeting for throwing things at Sister Elderette?

Hey, horrible life! At least you didn't rip one or something, lol! We had a large, large sister get discomboberated and sweaty on stage. She stood up and wiped her forehead. "Lord! Have mercy!" she gasped, and removed her suit jacket. For all the world to see, were her fuschia bra straps showing! I must say, we did have some rip roaring laughs to break up the crushing boredom sometimes!

leaving
by Lo-ru-hamah into those of you that have been jw's for many years... i would like to know how it is that you have transferred to your new life.
my family and i are in the process, actually, we have left because of many of the issues brought up on this forum.
this, being jw's, is all that we have ever known.

I found peace by realizing they are wrong about so many things and, God does not belong to the Witnesses! Leaving the Witnesses does NOT mean leaving God! You can always talk to God, and pray thru Jesus, and be heard. Admire a forest or mountains or the seashore at sunset and you will feel God there. You will find peace by talking to God and he will understand.

Tee-hee, once we realized how mortified our parents were, we slinked to our seats. As I recall, an argument broke out, starting with hissing and whispering and we progressed to elbowing. She slugged my arm and thankfully, it was meal intermission so everybody filed out, the rows were empty and boy, did we get chewed!

Ha-ha, well, I remember when my little best friend, SH and I were "selected" (forced) to do a skit at the Circuit Ass-embly because we were elder's daughters and therefore, wonderful, spiritual little girl children. NOT. We planned our example setting outfits for months, trying them on over and over and rehearsing our lines. At last, we went on stage and... she didn't say her line right, in my opinion. Me:"You're not supposed to say that yet, silly!" Her: Yes I am! It's my turn! We changed it, you boob!" "No!" "Yeah!" A mother runs out from behind the curtains. "Girls! Girls, please!" We never got our train of thought back and strangely were never on an assembly program again.

IS THIS WHY ELDERS ARE SO EGOTISTICAL??
by chuckyy ini have this theory.. someone once said to me.....' its no good coming into the truth if you are a sensitive person.'.
i have found in my experience as a former elder that a lot of elders have very large egos.
my theory is this:.

I noticed that many elders didn't have alot of education and worked laborer jobs such as bricklayer, construction, roofer, etc. The Kingdom Hall was a place where they could be important and bossy, and these types craved that kind of prominence and power they could not get anywhere else. In my father's case, he likes to pressure the cargroup to go to lunch after service and he pays. This seems to be another way of being controlling them and buying their loyalty. There is a lot of rivalry and "swinging their antlers" among elders.

Well, I know of several Witnoids who are Postal employees, including two elders. When you are appointed to a US Postal Service position, say as a letter carrier or window clerk, you swear to uphold all city, state and national laws and pledge loyalty to the government. This doesn't appear to bother them.
