Ohmigod, Danny! I was born in 1958 and the pictures made me freeze up remembering the fear I felt looking at the expressions of horror and pain in the books and that sadistic Paradise book they used to sit me down to look at, and the terrible nightmares I had as a child that continued into my 30's. This isn't normal material to be giving to children.These horrifying nightmares woke me up shaking, my heart racing and I tried to brush them off in the morning as common nightmares, but they really weren't, were they?

Is the WTS guilty of child abuse?

one of the definitions of child abuse (besides the ovious - physical and sexual) is neglect.
does the wts encourage parents to neglect the physcial and emotional well-being of their children by their policies (printed and implied) against higher education, vaccination, holidays, mandatory field service, early baptism that carries severe consequences, etc.

How much JW love is enough?
by Spectrum ini've noticed over my short time on the forum that one of the indictments levied against the jws is the lack of brotherly/sisterly love that they extend to the follow jw.
i remember my first congregation (i was about 14/15).
of the nearly 200 people there i was only ever invited to two brother's homes over a 2 year period.

The lines can really blur between a fringe religion like the Witlesses, and a cult. I'm torn. But when I tell people I was raised a Witnoid, they give me a sympathetic look, as if knowing how hard it must've been being a child in that strange group.

They made another run at me.
by kilroy2 ini was watching law and order last night at 10pm when the door bell rung.
i was in my red long underwear and jumped up to put on my jeans went down stairs to answer the door, i always turn on the light and look thought the peeper to make sure charlie manson is not knocking, no manson but two of my local elders from the hall.
i have not had any one from the hall take a run at me for at least a couple of years.

Glad to be back

i have had a really bad bout of flu, and was out of circulation for over two weeks.
having no pc at home, it's been difficult to keep up with things, but dedpoet has kept me informed.

Well, I work with a local elder, and the trouble making he engages in at work, along with the whining, laziness and fibbing, makes it hard for me to believe that he somehow transforms himself into a righteous man of God upon entering a Kingdumb Hell! He has no clue that nobody's buying it that's he's such a Christian when his actions say otherwise! He does not walk the walk at the job, but fools many at the meetings, I'm sure.

I must be old, but it kinda reminds me of my first grade reader, "Fun With Dick and Jane!" Here was the writing style: "Run, Dick, run! See Spot run! 'Oh', cried Jane! See Dick and Spot run! Run, run, run!" Yeah, that was for first grade kiddies to learn to read, but that's about the educational level these mags are catering to.And, people, please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers Dick and Jane and Spotty!
