JW.org Focus on the Past - Have Always Wondered?

just curious of others thoughts.....while watching the latest round of convention videos with my pimi wife it was highlighted again in the content how much the wt org.

has always focused on the past (in my opinion).

many of the historical events that are highlighted as significant are from 100+ years ago in some cases.

Why the change?

The future, except for looking forward to the new order—looks bad for current JWs. Before the coronavirus the field service numbers were down, either flat or showing decreases. Outsiders are rarely converting. Congs are merging and KHs sold off. Financially things are bad and the future there looks more desperate daily. The CSA issue isn't going away and lawsuits continue. In several respects they are doctrinally adrift. Things are either stagnant or going backwards. Governments are putting pressure on the org. The GB feel they are under siege.

What other choice do they have but to play up the past and recycle the old stuff in their new electronic format?

New Disfellowshipping Procedure

Isn't this already the procedure in places where the org is deeply underground, like China? Maybe the GB is taking its "success" there as Jehovah's blessing and his telling them to extend it to non-underground countries. The Swiss, Aussie, and Dutch legal responses to the org's in-house policies may also be at work here—if the whole idea is not just rumor and has some truth behind it.

BOE Update! (as of 2020-07-31)

body of elder letters, announcements, and so forth will be next to "none" unless more elders decide to contact us and help out.. atlantis has lost three elders in the past two years.

two elders were disfellowshipped, and one disassociated and walk away a month ago.. when this happens receiving confidential documents is severed.

the last announcement we received was 2020-07-23. i was not about to send out a childish letter on "mold" in the kingdom halls.. there are people out there out of work and concerned about what they will eat tomorrow, and the watchtower is concerned with mold!.

Today over at reddit a poster reported that a letter has gone out significantly increasing the amount of money each cong has to send in. They might be running out of property to sell now. Of course, they did not put that last bit in the letter.

Beside her comments on WT "study" articles, her regularly helping out with finding stuff in old WTS publications was quite nice. She often did research and shared her findings with others here, even unsolicitedly. I sure appreciated that!

Plenty of past contributors here have decided to move on in their lives, past being ex-JW, and have left the forum. We all know this. Perhaps it just took her longer to do so? Or maybe some health issue has come up, like Diogs. has inferred?

Jessica Leigh Collins - do you believe her story (Epstein)

as i was researching some stuff about this epstein guy and came across postings about jessica leigh collins.. her twitter has most of her story: https://twitter.com/midnitemj but it is actively being suppressed by twitter - a regular search on twitter doesn't get her account as a result and none of her posts have been seen by more than a few hundred people.

many media outlets have tagged her as "russian troll" while she doesn't seem anything like it.

it certainly is way too detailed and is going on for way too long to be a troll nor is her story being artificially trended or upvoted, fact is, the posts have virtually no upvotes or retweets even though people elsewhere claimed they tried.. what i can gather is that she came out about being trafficked by epstein but quickly found out that nobody is actually interested in her story.

I can only speculate that Epstein's protection........ until he lost it........may have been possible because he had photographic images and film of powerful men not only using prostitutes but also minors.

jehovah’s witness elder, clifford whiteley, has been sentenced to nine years in prison at the birmingham crown court for sexual abuse offences he committed against a child member of the congregation over ten years ago.. mr whiteley initially denied the offences to the police, despite the fact that he had admitted his guilt during an internal investigation of the jehovah’s witnesses.. during court proceedings, mr whiteley’s defence counsel, sharon bailey, stated that the jehovah’s witnesses refused to disclose the details of his confession to the police.
