does anyone know of any updates on this case about the clergy-penitent privilege?.
https://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/lawsuit-against-jehovahs-witnesses-elders-for-not-reporting-child-abuse-continues-443003903.html.
this was the latest thing (last sept.) i could find in a google search.
The reason I ask this question is that I'm wondering why US law enforcement agencies haven't moved against individuals (perpetrators) within the organization for child abuse cases, given that other countries' LEA have, like Australia. Could it be that they want the courts to rule on this clergy-penitent privilege issue first? Anyone have anything to offer on this?

what can i do when elders want to poke their nose in?.
they want to have another chat with me and my wife, but we dont want to, it just gets us down..
"they want to help and protect the congregation"
This means that you have already been marked for judicial action for the worst of sins, "apostasy." They seem interested in "saving" your wife or at least trying to determine if she also requires a JC.
The wisest course is probably just to avoid them. If you can't do that, then you must take refuge in the "I have doubts" course. That's officially acceptable, that is, not a DFable offense. The best course is, in the long term, to avoid being DFed or DAed. It will lead to greater possibilities and freedoms for you. If you get DFed or DAed, it will close multiple doors for you in the future.
Also you should not talk about your doubts/research with loyal Witnesses. That will lead to trouble for you.
If you really want to be left alone, this is the best course.
there is still a chance that the watchtower files zalkin received, will surface again in the future!

There's a lot on Trey's website other than the article linked above. For example, according to him, that Lopez lawsuit was settled for $13.5—wow! If that figure becomes the standard amount, the WTS is in deep trouble. No wonder they keep begging for money and are selling whatever they can.
One reason that may be at work in why they are so intent of keeping their files secret: some of the past GB members themselves had sexual attraction to children (Greenlees? Jaracz?). Just a thought...
what splain does in his talk and chart illustration is make the leap that a generation can have two groups.
and in this case the two groups span more than 108 years.
but no where in scripture is there ever a notion that a generation has two groups.
Triple J:
They should just say they were wrong about 1914. But we know that will never happen.
I needed a good laugh! The only way they would ever admit error is if they were forced to by Caesar, massive public exposure, and/or genuine catastrophe. They've moved a log way from Rutherford's candid admission, "I made an ass of myself."
i was thinking about this over the weekend.
just this week, there was the "consolidation" talk (in my wife's congregation) , the article about shunning that went viral, and the annual "show your love and obedience to jehovah by giving us your money" watchtower.
i know my wife said people are running scared about this consolidation even though it was sold as maximizing space to help other areas, build kh in other countries, etc...... the media and government has hit them hard in many countries, but they have gotten off easy in the usa, where the majority of the people and money reside.
TFG:
R&f JW's are being dominated and controlled more than they have ever been
Here, here!
perhaps this has been linked here before.
if that's the case, i'm sorry.
however, new people join, others miss things, some forget, so i thought it was worth posting, especially since this issue comes up from time to time and some here have never worked it out or are in the process of trying to do so.

The interview, from 4 years ago, is with a chap from Princeton who is very well-published in New Testament studies (Dale C. Allison) and is from a "Christian agnostic" blog (of Steven Jake, a high school math teacher). What is "Christian agnostic" supposed to mean? The blogger says:
"I feel drawn to the Christian message, and I feel that in Christianity religion reaches its maturity in the person of Jesus; yet, I also feel that some of Christian doctrine is vague, wrong-headed, implausible and perhaps even wrong. Therefore, I am perfectly fine with saying, "I do not see the evidence for doctrine such and such, so I will abstain from believing it"; and this is where Christian Agnosticism finds it's home."
Since that is now "cleared up" (?!), here's the interview:

Enjoy.
in september 2004, farkel posted an article on this forum called "rutherford exposed: the story of berta and bonnie.
" his essay, which subsequently was translated into several languages and which received over 10,000 views after the first month, spawned a thread that ran 28 pages and contained the collaborative research efforts of many in jwd.
this thread was thought by some moderators to be the best in the forum -- not necessarily because of the claims in the original essay but because it inspired a staggering amount of research aimed at assessing the credibility of the claims made in the essay, as well as adding to our knowledge of this fascinating yet obscure chapter of watchtower history.
Wow, someone has resurrected one of Leolaia's old posts. It's a blast from the past, sort "old fresh air"!
