I'd be interested in seeing it. I'm sure it doesn't go into their past history on the issue!

Thanks for the post. A very revealing leak indeed, one perhaps foreshadowing the end of such leaks! I watched the entire thing to get the context and have some observations.
1. This is some kind of traveling school, for department heads from outside the USA. It looks like a branch overseers school for those under the branch committees. The British (?) accents of the audience members (elders) asking questions show the students are from outside the US. From references made it may have been part of a 3-week school (?).
2. The speaker is Canadian; he speaks with a Canadian accent but from his comments he serves at the US branch, and its time frame is difficult to ascertain. At one point it sounds like it was before the move to Warwick was completed. At another point it seems like the move was already done.
3. He early comments regarding how Satan is using the legal branch of society at large to attack the org, and how this is driving inner-org policy in multiple ways. Repeatedly he refers to legal cases, the Legal Department, and so on as the main reason for this whole records issue.
4. The very use of the word "policy" itself is interesting. Years ago the org would eschew using that word. At some point it has become acceptable—as it should have been along ago.
5. Note his point about the non-need to think; the org does thinking for you, so you don't have to worry about thinking.
6. 29:25-33 – "That hand-written note cost us a few hundred thousand dollars." 29:44-45 "The difficulty is that this happened more than once." Wow! No wonder they are so concerned with destroying documents.
7. Does anyone recognize this instructor? He said he works in a department of just two in NY (whether at Patterson or Warwick is hard to determine), comprised of himself and "Luke." His statement that their department has two expensive scanners, one of which can be checked out is also telling. Surely these scanners can keep a record of just who scans exactly what documents (see point 10 below).
8. 46:20-47:03. This is interesting. The question came up about whether one should keep something privately in order not to have to do the work already done before, but the record of that work was destroyed due to records management requirements. The instructor answers that yes, you'd have to do that research over again. Could this be a reason some "independently-minded person" (evil!) would violate the org's record destruction procedure?
9. The he says that if you (the audience members) do try and hide it or squirrel it away somewhere, "we can find it. We have ways and means, but we won't tell you what they are." (47:58-48:09) Big brother is watching! Put the fear of God and disfellowshiping in the branch workers.
10. Sharing one document electronically (the hidden goal here) instead of people having individual access to multiple hard copies is a good way of checking up on and controlling who is accessing that single copy. Surely one motive of the policy shift portrayed here is to catch moles who have been leaking material to Atlantis. No wonder this is being taught to the branches! Quite a number of leaked docs seen on this forum have been from branches outside the US. This seems to be one of the real reasons for this policy shift—as usual, MORE CONTROL FROM "MOTHER."

From the NZ news article posted above:
Elder Brooke Willoughby, who was overseeing the sale of the hall, said because the number of Jehovah's Witnesses was growing exponentially worldwide, the need for new halls kept growing.
Is he kidding himself, buying into the org's PR, or just playing along with the higher ups? Exponential growth worldwide? Maybe in some countries in Africa, but everywhere else it has flatlined or gone in reverse.

Are these "special" talks or events EVER really special? It seems that the R&F never stop getting excited over the abuse of this term...

Phizz,
The old boy saying he had studied since he was 5, and is now 71, why then could he not defend his " faith" ?? Why did the old bugger have to run off ?
Because he's been told not to dialogue with anyone asking embarrassing questions or opposing in any way. Just shut down the display and move off. The GB realizes that someone dialoguing like you (and I) used to may indeed look into things and wind up leaving! We both spoke to such ones, and look what happened—we left!
Your days, Phizzy, are long gone.

Searching for this Site
by Phizzy ini tried searching for this site by entering "jehovahs-witness.com" and this site did not come up on the first page !
it was jw dot org etc all the way down !.
how can we change this ?.

Do you think that the 'puter geeks at org HQ have put together some sort of computer program that automatically "searches" for "Jehovah's Witnesses" and its cognates all the time, perhaps from roving IP addresses, so that the "competition" like this site and other anti-JW ones are driven off the first page on a G search because such hits appear in the order of popular searches? In other words, their goal is to have only JWdotORG addys come up on page one of the G search results. I wouldn't put it past them...

Wealth, Poverty, and Morality
by SecondRateMind ini am interested in the approach this forum takes to money.
apart from sex, (which i am quite relaxed about) it seems to me that wealth is the surest divider between those who are moral, and those who are not.. it seems jesus thought so, also.
luke 16:19-31 kjv describes well enough his dusty attitude to the rich who do not succour the poor.. and this world has many poor: so many, it might seem that we can do nothing about it, and twist his words; 'the poor ye shall have always with you, but me, ye shall not have always.

Let us take all the world's wealth, and divide it equitably amongst all the world's people… And let us do this voluntarily, because we think it good and right and just.
Two thoughts:
1. Your post could not help but bring to mind the observation of Notre Dame scholar David Bentley Hart whose recent translation of the New Testament (NT) has caused quite a stir in many circles. Both in its introduction and in an article he published about doing the translation, he spoke about the earliest Christians who would have been by modern standards "fairly obnoxious: civically reprobate, ideologically unsound, economically destructive, politically irresponsible, socially discreditable." He especially dotes on the NT condemnation of "the idolatry of riches, wealth misused, wealth immorally gained" ( Intro. p. xxv). Maybe he feels a tad bit guilty about making so much money from his scholarship and his academic success (a rare phenomenon)? It seems to me that, given the gap he puts between himself as a modern and the earliest Christians, he would not go along with your proposal, even though he recognizes the condemnation of wealth in the NT.
2. Beside Hart, how do you propose bringing Trump, Putin, and all their ilk on board?
How do you feel about reality?

What are the "inner rooms" of Isaiah 26:20? The answer may surprise you !!!
by jwdoctrine in"go, my people, enter your inner rooms, and shut your doors behind you.hide yourself for a brief moment until the wrath has passed by.
"(isaiah 26:20).
one of the questions that seem to trouble the governing body of the jehovah's witnesses in recent year is this: what will jehovah's witnesses be doing during the destruction of babylon the great?

It's the rNWT in its study version. Last I heard (maybe 2 years ago?) they were still working on the gospels and it was only available online. It will likely not be printed. As somebody pointed out on another thread here, they can't even afford to give the Spanish-speaking Witnesses the regular rNWT, so they could not afford to print an English edition of the rNWT Study Bible.

Maybe she's got a letter from her doctor saying it's OK? You know, like some brothers get such notes for permission to grow a beard. Or maybe she once sang with Prince and got permission that way? Maybe her BOE are all color blind? Maybe I should go and have another drink of Spatlese...
